Students for Life’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement Christian Schools Project Releases 4th Annual Report

GLASS HALF FULL: More A+ Schools than Ever Before Emerged as Christian Schools Responded to Reports of Planned Parenthood on Campus & Almost 1 in 10 Promote Non-Violent Pregnancy Care Centers

GLASS HALF EMPTY: More Faith-Connected Schools than Ever Before Allowed Big Abortion to Taint their School Services & Campus Life

SADLY: Even Pope Leo XIV’s alma mater, Villanova University, got an “F”

“The good news is that many faith-based schools respond immediately to reports that abortion vendors have infiltrated campus life, but more schools than ever before chose to allow an anti-Life worldview on campus,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “Christian schools need to inspire their students to embrace Biblical values and to find better partners than those who sell death by abortion and sterilizing, experimental drugs. For those schools refusing to kick Planned Parenthood off campus, parents and alumni need to remind them that support can go away when values disappear.”

KEY FINDINGS:

More than 1 in 7 Christian schools maintain a connection to Planned Parenthood, up from more than 1 in 10 in 2024

School support for Planned Parenthood & abortion vendors up almost 20% on campuses since the Dobbs decision

But 50 ties were cut between schools and Planned Parenthood

And nearly 14% more schools promoted non-violent pregnancy care centers

WASHINGTON D.C. (01-13-2026) – Students for Life’ Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement (IPA) investigated 725 colleges and universities affiliated with Christian churches in the United States for the fourth year in a row, finding that 114, or more than one in seven Christian schools, maintain some type of relationship with Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion vendor, and/or the abortion industry.

Students for Life of America (SFLA) President Kristan Hawkins noted that “accountability for teaching a Biblical worldview and prioritizing protecting preborn babies and their mothers begins within the church. Students for Life is partnering with parents and alumni in demanding that Christian schools offer a faith perspective on the world, including the human rights issue of our day, abortion. Shockingly, more Christian schools than ever before allowed Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry to taint campus life, and that’s risen since the end of Roe v. Wade. Clearly, the Christian Schools project will remain a priority because some schools are failing the students who should receive the best of Christian apologetics and pro-life support.”

Hawkins continued: “Most surprising, even the Holy Father’s alma mater, Villanova University, got an F in our report, for listing several abortion organizations on its career connection website. The last thing we want is for our best and brightest students to reject the teachings of their faith by taking a job with any organization dedicated to destroying Life in the womb. Our hope is that the Holy Father, parents, alumni, donors, and students demand that our Christian schools practice what our faith preaches.”

A little more than 1 in 4 degree-granting institutions of higher education claim a faith affiliation, notes the National Center of Education Statistics. Of the 849 considered “religiously affiliated,” IPA narrowed the list to examine the schools that identify with a faith-focused, traditional perspective and excluded schools from denominations that support abortion.

For the scope of this research, a “Christian school” was defined as an institution of higher education affiliated with a Christ-centered denomination and publicly claiming historical Christian faith in its founding. SFLA identified 725 colleges and universities in the United States that aligned with this definition. To compile this list, SFLA referred to established online resources such as Niche’s 2024 Best Christian Colleges in America and the USCCB’s Catalog of Catholic Colleges and Universities in the United States. Those schools from denominations embracing a pro-abortion stance, such as the Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, Quaker, and Moravian were excluded.

The number of Christian schools on the 2025 list is slightly fewer than the 2024 report due to school closures, to some schools removing their faith affiliation, and to certain denominations adopting a pro-abortion stance.

During the 2024-2025 school year, 50 ties between Christian schools and Planned Parenthood were severed thanks to interventions and awareness facilitated by the Christian Schools Project. Students, parents, alumni, and supporters of Christian schools deserve and demand  that the most basic Christian value of Life prevails.

ADDITIONAL FINDINGS:

1.      Christian schools earning an “A+” grade by promoting or supporting their local Pregnancy Help Center increased by 13.79% since 2024, with 25 new A+ schools!

2.      Christian schools’ support for abortion increased by 19.82% since 2022 in the wake of Roe’sreversal; Christian schools’ support for abortion increased by 38.63% since 2024.

3.      More than one fourth (26.45%) of the infractions overall were Christian schools referring students to Planned Parenthood as a “health resource.”

4.      Over half of the denominations (54.5%) had at least one school with an infraction.
