“During COVID, the Biden Administration gave a de facto permit for abortion water pollution when they allowed Chemical Abortion Pill Pushers to distribute death-by-mail, making all the wrong people happy,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “Abusers love to anonymously buy the deadly drugs, and Chemical Abortion Pill pushers love the quick sale. But as a result, more than 50 tons of chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue, along with human remains, are flushed into America’s waterways. Students for Life is proud to stand with Rep. Mary Miller, whose introduction of our ‘Clean Water for All Life Act’ begins vital first steps toward stopping this dangerous scheme. With every sale of these deadly drugs, someone’s death is expected, beginning with a baby, but it doesn’t stop there. To make a life-saving difference, we must disrupt the Chemical Abortion Pill market with commonsense and common decency. This bill imposes real penalties on those profiting from death.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (03-18-2026) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins will be celebrating the years-long effort at a coalition news event today at 9:00AM EST the U.S. House Triangle, headed by Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) as she announces the introduction of the “Clean Water for All Life Act.” The bill addresses two deadly realities of Chemical Abortion Pills: easy online sales to sometimes dangerous abusers and sex traffickers and dangerous abortion water pollution from chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue along with human remains. The bill demands that in person examination and care take place, putting an end to anonymous, online distribution. It also requires that a biohazard bag be given with the pills with directions on bringing the filled bag back to the abortion vendor to prevent abortion water pollution from going into our nation’s waterways. Failure to follow these commonsense safeguards can result in up to 5 years of prison and fines of up to $50,000 per incident.

If passed, this bill will shut down online abortion pill traffickers who are flooding states, including those with abortion limits, as common-sense medical requirements for medical “waste” will have to be followed. In addition, America’s waterways will be cleaned up from the progesterone-blocking metabolites only found in mifepristone, the first of the deadly Chemical Abortion Pill cocktail.

SFLAction will DOUBLE score sponsorship and votes for our unique legislation. Lead by Rep. Miller, early bill sponsors include Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), Rep. Sheri Biggs (R-SC), Rep. John McGuire (R-VA), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Rep. Pat Harrigan (R-NC), Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX), Rep. Paul Gosar (AZ), Rep. Peter Steube (R-FL), and Rep. Tom Burchett (R-TN).

Echoing their concerns have been many Members of Congress and other pro-life organizations.

Letters demanding action include:

In a statement on the bill, SFLAction Vice President of Media & Policy Kristi Hamrick noted that hypocrisy is a big part of current Chemical Abortion Pill policy: “If you take the word ‘abortion’ out of this, it’s an easy win. Other businesses are not allowed to dump what the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) calls pathological medical waste in America’s drinking water. Home-based medical care isn’t supposed to be a wasteland of water pollution, and the registered Youth Vote doesn’t support this either,” noted Hamrick. “By margins of 9 in 10, the Youth Vote supports protecting the environment and those exposed to the deadly drugs.”

Bill sponsor, U.S. Rep. Miller added: “The murder-for-profit abortion industry has completely ignored the dangerous and unethical disposal of pre-born baby remains and toxic chemical waste produced by abortion pills. I introduced the ‘Clean Water for All Life Act’ to put an end to their reckless and inhumane practices.”

U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R-IL) noted: “Chemical abortion drugs are ending the lives of unborn children while their toxic byproducts are being flushed into our water systems with virtually no oversight. As a pro-life advocate and a pharmacist who spent decades caring for patients before coming to Congress, I believe we have a duty to protect women, defend innocent life, and ensure powerful drugs and medical waste are handled responsibly.  I’m proud to join Rep. Mary Miller in fighting to protect life, safeguard public health, and hold the abortion industry accountable.”

Speakers at the event also include: Penny Nance, CEO & President of Concerned Women for America; Tom McClusky, Director of Government Affair with Catholic Vote; Gwen Anderson, Legislative Assistant with Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America; and Tina Whittington, Executive Vice President for Students for Life of America.

In eight citizen petitions to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and in communication to the EPA, Students for Life detailed scientific studies and safety concerns with Chemical Abortion Pills, highlighting environment issues raised in the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the Safe Drinking Water Act. This represents only a small portion of Students for Life’s work in this space.
