Students for Life Action Praises U.S. Senate Finance Committee for Letting Abortion Vendors Go Fund Themselves in the “Big, Beautiful” Budget Bill Language Moved Ahead
“We are one step closer to ending the tyranny of forced taxpayer funding of abortion vendors, who have infiltrated America’s healthcare, draining life-saving resources away from full-service medical care. Our message to all of Congress, let’s tell Planned Parenthood and all abortion vendors to ‘Go Fund Themselves,’” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins.
WASHINGTON D.C. (06-16-2025) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins said news that the Senate Finance Committee kept in the changes in the Medicaid spending that disqualify abortion vendors from a program designed to offer full-service healthcare providers “an historic day for all Americans.” Pro-life Americans have been forced to prop up abortion vendors for decades – taxation without representation – leading to violations of our consciences year after year. We call on the U.S. Senate to finish the work of cutting vendors that sterilize minors and end preborn life out of the budget, in the base text and for a period of 10 years. To that end, we are going across the country, asking that healthcare protects the health of every patient – born and preborn.”
SFLAction will score the budget vote and has engaged in a nationwide push in support of the redirected funds, in Washington D.C. and district visits as well as prayer vigils, digital outreach, and viral campaigns.

- Though they saw less than 2% patient increase compared to the previous report, Planned Parenthood got a 13% pay increase – from $699.3 million in 2022-2023 to $792.2 million.
- Taxpayers are more on the hook than ever to support them, now forced to cover 39% of their total budget, up from 34%.
- The number of lives ended by abortion at Planned Parenthood’s hands rose again: 402,200 – up from 392,715 in their last report – about a 2.4% increase over the last year, and a 7.5% increase over the course of the last two years.
- Adoption referrals are basically stagnant, reported at 2,148, compared to 1,721 in the previous report
- “Other services” hides true data on Planned Parenthood’s sterilizing hormone sales to minors.
As part of the Defund Planned Parenthood and all Abortion Vendors campaign, SFLAction spearheaded an Emergency “Defund Planned Parenthood” Webcast, with leading Pro-Life voices, calling for ending the forced funding of abortion through the current reconciliation process.
That followed an impressive event on Capitol Hill as pro-life leaders from across the country joined a Defund Planned Parenthood& ALL Abortion Vendors media event as well as a lobby day, letting members of Congress know that their pro-life voters were fully engaged.
