Planned Parenthood is trying to move into Henrietta New York! Students for Life of America’s Campaign for Abortion Free Cities in partnership with BRAVE HEART is mobilizing to oppose the relocation of the former Brighton Planned Parenthood to its newly proposed location: 376 Jefferson Road, Rochester New York, 14623.
The approval of this Planned Parenthood’s special use permit is wildly unnecessary as there is already four abortion facilities within 5 miles from this proposed location. Additionally, there are nine federally qualified health centers in Monroe County, which provide women’s health services and are mandated to provide that care if women cannot afford it.
Secondly, not only does Planned Parenthood not fit in with the intent of B1 regulations, but it is not at all compatible with its’ surroundings. The neighborhood where they are attempting to open consists of family-friendly restaurants and retail shops. A facility that commits acts of violence against a vulnerable population and produces blood and body parts as waste does not fit into the intent of the B1 guidelines outlined in town code section § 295-14. Planned Parenthood is not consistent with the vision for our town whatsoever.
Lastly, Planned Parenthoods in the state of New York have neglected to make public any health and safety inspection records, giving no indication of any passing inspections for the past 20+ years. As of March 2020, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York does not recommend Rh factor testing for women receiving an abortion less than 8 weeks and under. This is medically negligent and can endanger the health of a woman and child.
We are calling on the Town Board of Henrietta to vote NO at the June 22nd Board Meeting to give preferential treatment to Planned Parenthood allowing them to undercut the current B1 zoning business plaza requisites and therefore reject Planned Parenthoods request of a special use permit.
