JD Vance is Right – America Doesn’t Need Planned Parenthood for Healthcare

Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance has been on a roll lately, from destroying ABC’s Martha Raddatz over the gang takeovers of apartment complexes, to his skillful dismantling of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz during the Vice-Presidential debate.

His latest shining moment was against Planned Parenthood. Vance remarks were reported by The Hill, saying “What we said is we don’t want taxpayer funding for abortions, and that, of course, has been a bipartisan approach over 40 years in this country, until, frankly, Kamala Harris came along,” Vance replied.

The bulk of Planned Parenthood’s federal funding comes from Medicaid reimbursements.”

To Vance’s great credit, he said he “doesn’t believe in taxpayer funding for abortions.”

He is of course correct – Planned Parenthood doesn’t deserve taxpayer funding, and sadly they’ve already received far too much of it over the decades. According to an article we wrote on this sad reality several months back, since 1993, Planned Parenthood has taken in $10.35 BILLION in taxpayer funding.

Now, Planned Parenthood will swear up and down that it BARELY focuses on abortion –3% is the number they often cite – but that’s not the complete picture. As Students for Life of America (SFLA) has written previously, “about 96% of Planned Parenthood’s “services” to pregnant mothers are abortion.”

What’s not in dispute is that abortion generates big money for Planned Parenthood. A fact-check in The Washington Post found that “a first trimester abortion can cost up to $1,500, according to the Planned Parenthood Web site.” The Charlotte Lozier Institute reported that in 2022-20233, Planned Parenthood made over $2 billion in income.

Planned Parenthood’s own 2022-2023 annual report noted that they performed over 392,000 abortions and 2.25 million “birth control services.”  Since there is no National Abortion Reporting Law, we won’t  know for sure if those numbers are accurate. Even if that is the extent of their abortion work, why would they be eager to get rid of something that generates hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue? At 392,000 abortions at $1,500 each, that’s over $580,000,000.

In fact, it’s the opposite situation: Planned Parenthood’s other “services” are declining.

That same report from Charlotte Lozier noted that since 2010, Planned Parenthood’s cancer screenings have dropped 71%, breast exams and pap tests are down 72% and 74% respectively, and prenatal services are down 80%.

For an organization that isn’t focused on abortion, Planned Parenthood is sure quick to get rid of everything else

America in turn, should get rid of them; we don’t need Planned Parenthood for anything, not even for contraceptives. There are  plenty of options out there for Americans to get that need met. In fact, pharmacies and drug stores are more ubiquitous than McDonalds or Starbucks, with more than “44,900 pharmacy and drug store businesses in the U.S. as of 2023,” reports IBIS World.

There’s one last element that’s worth noting about Planned Parenthood’s business model; they’re also in the transgender hormone business. According to a 2022 report from The Heritage Foundation, written about in The Federalist, “Planned Parenthood has quietly been in the gender transition business since at least 2017. Today, more than a third of its offices — 239 clinics in more than 40 states — provide transgender services.”

So, in 2024, America’s women should move on from this toxic and destructive organization who by all intents and purpose has clearly moved on from them.
