There are only a few courageous legislators in America who fight every day on behalf of the preborn and do not give an inch to do so.
Whenever you have lost faith in our system of government, do not look towards Washington for those glimmers of hope and restoration—look to our state houses. There are leaders who get up every day to make a difference and truly fight for Life. For the first in our “Limelight” Series, showcasing pro-life champions, we turn our attention to North Carolina’s own state representative, Jonathan Almond of the 73rd district.
North Carolinian through and through, community leader Jonathan Almond was elected in 2024, in a wave of commonsense that swept across the country. He and his wife Margaret are proud to have lived out the “get married have children mantra,” being blessed with two twin boys and a girl. He has an impressive resume when it comes to Republican Party grassroots involvement, to his career in business and finance. When it comes to the issue of Life, however, Almond truly stands out from others in the fight.
In addition to his faith, Almond cites on his website the Declaration of Independence as what gets to the root of his stance on the protection of Life—starting with the preborn. But he didn’t just talk about this on the campaign trail. Once elected, he backed up these beliefs by co-sponsoring a bill before the Federal government did to defund Planned Parenthood in North Carolina, with the goal of making sure Medicaid dollars are not being used to fund the abortion giant. North Carolina is currently under Democratic leadership continues to be an abortion hub, but Bill NC H192 was designed to stop this leftist agenda. This insidious, radical agenda to protect Planned Parenthood and abuse tax dollars is directly responsible for eliminating preborn North Carolinians.
Many lawmakers talk a big game but are afraid to take on the root of the problem. We need more lawmakers in North Carolina willing to stand up for the least and weakest among us—truly a voice for the voiceless. Let’s hope Almond continues to drive radical Tarheels nuts.
