Students for Life Praises Congressional Tribute to Charlie Kirk’s
Birthday as ‘Unifying & Quintessentially American’; But more needed

“We applaud Congress for this bipartisan display of unity to honor our friend, Charlie Kirk,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “Charlie stood for universal truths that make this country great—the freedom to debate, the freedom to exchange ideas, and the freedom to hash out our differences as Americans. Americans needed to see lawmakers recognizing the importance of what Charlie stood for: American values that make us the freest and best country on earth. But with so many Democrats refusing that simple gesture, the Pro-Life Generation pledges to fight for a national holiday, to call our country to come reason together, again.”

WASHINGTON D.C.  (09-19-2025) – Students for Life of America (SFLA) and Students for Life Action (SFLAction) applauded Congress for honoring the fallen friend of the Pro-Life Generation (PLG) and outspoken champion of free speech, Charlie Kirk, in resolutions that passed in the U.S. House and Senate with bipartisan support. “Charlie Kirk taught us the power of courageous dialogue,” remarked Hawkins. “His unwavering spirit inspired millions to champion truth, even in the face of adversity. Charlie’s resolve was contagious. Through these resolutions, we honor as a nation our shared commitment to freedom, dignity, and the right to Life, for the born and preborn.”

“But it speaks to our cultural divide that 58 Democrats voted against a simple resolution to honor a man who had dedicated his life to talking with those who disagree with them and to condemn political violence. The Pro-Life Generation wants Charlie’s birthday to be a national holiday and renews our all for a Charlie Kirk Free Speech Day. Clearly America is a crisis point. The evidence that we need it can be seen in the vote itself, as too many Democrats refused to denounce political violence by voting present or by voting against a respectful gesture. That was pathetic.”

The dual resolution measures honored the Life and legacy of Charlie Kirk, whose passionate advocacy and unwavering commitment to open dialogue, faith, and liberty touched millions across America. These resolutions, supported by members of both major parties, affirm the profound impact Kirk made as a public figure, champion for free speech, and tireless defender of the most vulnerable. October 14th, Kirk’s birthday, would be recognized as a National Day of Remembrance, an effort the CEO of the Pro-Life Generation (PLG), Kristan Hawkins, has led the charge on following Kirk’s tragic assassination.

On September 10th, the Pro-Life Generation suffered a profound loss in Kirk’s tragic death. Yet, as the resolution notes, the resolve of those who stood beside him remains unbroken. The holiday is set to become a rallying point for all who cherish the freedoms Kirk fought so hard to protect.
