South Carolina Representatives introduce bill to keep out-of-state abortion vendors just that – out of the state
The introduction of the Students for Life Action (SFLAction)-inspired “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act” in South Carolina could mark another nail in the coffin for Death-by-Mail Chemical Abortion Pill vendors. This legislation would target Chemical Abortion Pill vendors sending deadly drugs across the South Carolina border with both criminal and civil penalties. Current South Carolina law illegalizes abortions at six weeks gestation, making it a prime target for these vendors who mail Chemical Abortion Pills for use against state law, all the for the purpose of destroying young LIFE in the womb.
“This bill is crucial because it addresses the grave dangers that chemical abortion pills pose to South Carolinians, both mother and pre-born child,” said Nora Henkel, a pro-life student leader from Waxhaw, N.C. “Every single abortion pill takes a human life. But the threat doesn’t stop there. These contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals that cannot be fully removed during treatment and can end up in our drinking water. This is not just a pro-life issue, it’s a public health and environmental crisis that demands your immediate action.”

The “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act” is one of the bills leading the charge in the fight against Chemical Abortion Drugs endangering women and killing children, as well as the abortion vendors who think they can operate above pro-life laws. We expect more legislation targeting Chemical Abortion Pills to be introduced in other states, with both criminal and civil penalties considered.
The introduction of the “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act” is a direct result of the tireless on-the-ground efforts of SFLAction in South Carolina.
By activating students and volunteers for lobby days, pressuring politicians, and engaging with constituents via door knocking campaigns, we helped make this happen.
The Big Picture:
- The “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act” reinforces South Carolina law by aiming to stop the inflow of Chemical Abortion Pills used in violation of the state’s six-week illegalization of abortions.
- This legislation makes Chemical Abortion Pill vendors criminally liable to felony charges, whether they operate from within or outside South Carolina.
- This legislation acknowledges the harmful impact of abortion on mothers, fathers, and family members and enables them to take civil action against abortionists.

Who’s Sponsoring the “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act”:
Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Wes Newton, District 120 (R) is the primary sponsor of the bill. It is co-sponsored by SFLAction Pro-Life Champion Rep. John McCravy, District 13 (R) and many other Pro-Life allies in the state.
What We’re Watching:
SFLAction will be on the ground to testify in support of the “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act” and “Human Life Protection Act”. We’re calling on House leadership to push both the “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act” and the “Human Life Protection Act” forward for a vote.
With the introduction of the Students for Life Action-inspired “Abortion Inducing Drugs Act,” South Carolina could join states like Texas in disavowing Chemical Abortion Pill vendors of the notion that they are above the law—and set the stage for other states to follow suit. SFLAction won’t be satisfied by simply having its inspired legislation introduced. We will continue the fight in South Carolina and beyond to hold Chemical Abortionists accountable, working to protect Life in Law and in Service.
