Last session, Florida legislators worked to pass a 6-week Heartbeat Protection bill. Students for Life Action encouraged the strong Republican majorities in both the House and Senate to go further—and lead on life, passing “Protection at Conception” legislation. Unfortunately, many Florida Republicans are failing to lead, including Representative Fabian Basabe, who just introduced HB 93 in Florida—a 12-week “compromise” bill.
New Florida legislation should be earlier than six weeks and protect more babies, not endanger more children to abortion violence.
In 2022, over 82,000 abortions were performed in Florida, and the state now ranks 5th overall in total abortions nationwide. Over the course of the last decade, Florida has transformed from a purple swing state to a Republican stronghold. Republicans now have a super majority, meaning there should be virtually no partisan obstacles to passing a Life at Conception Act, they simply must commit to doing so.
Every abortions ends a unique human life, one worthy of love and respect, and entitled to life and to be treated with dignity and protected by law.
Legislators need to be told by voters they can do better – urge them to end abortion in Florida and make the “Free State of Florida” the “Abortion Free State of Florida.” Tell them to OPPOSE any attempt to pass HB 93, as it would condemn tens of thousands of currently protected babies vulnerable to violent deaths by abortion.
