Students for Life Action Chemical Abortion Pill Legislation Adopted as National Model by National Association of Christian Lawmakers

& Pro-Life Champion Rep. John McCravy (SC) Honored for his Historic Fight for an SFLAction Bill

“When Students for Life Action formed in 2019, it was for such a time as this,” said SFLAction’s Kristan Hawkins. “We knew a fight would move to the states when – not IF – Roe fell, and we got ready to work with the kind of champions brought together by my friend Jason Rapert, a former state Senator and the founder and president of NACL. It’s for this kind of network that we developed the ‘Make America Pro-Life Again Roadmap,’ to detail a way forward to protect Life in Law and Service. Look for our model bill to come to a legislature near you.”

LYNCHBURG, VA & WASHINGTON D.C. (06-10-2025) – At its 9th national conference, members of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers (NACL) adopted a unique Students for Life Action (SFLAction) “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking” bill, which has been under consideration in a number of states including OklahomaTexasIndianaKentuckyMississippi, Arkansas, and West Virginia, to name a few recent efforts. NACL, founded in 2019, is a community of Christian Lawmakers and elected officials in all 50 states, dedicated to pursuing innovative solutions to address the moral, cultural, and economic decay impacting America.

SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins thanked the legislators who prioritized this effort to curtail Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking, as today deadly, life-ending pills are pushed online by abortion activists in blue states who are determined to break pro-life laws as well as by international abortion businesses.

“This bill represents a trend in pro-life legislation nationwide,” said Hawkins. “We know that Chemical Abortion Pills are deadly to babies, and that should be enough to stop their global sale, but the self-proclaimed ‘women’s advocates’ sell the deadly concoction, knowing that it harms women too. Chemical Abortion Pills cause injury, infertility, and death; they are sold anonymously, which empowers abusers who use the drugs against mothers without their knowledge or consent; and they create abortion water pollution. Even if you support abortion, that’s not an argument in favor of the mass destruction caused by this unregulated worldwide business. States are on the right track by focusing their attention on those profiting while so many suffer.”

Rep. Mary Bentley (AR) proposed that the model be adopted as a tool for legislators across the country.

“I recommended Students for Life’s Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking model for legislators across the country because I’ve seen the destruction that they cause the women who take them,” said Bentley. “Consider the fact that even the FDA admits that women have died when taking abortion pills because they can’t treat an ectopic pregnancy, and that’s only one of the horrific issues. But right now, arrogant Chemical Abortion pill pushers in other states or even outside of the country deliberately break state laws, knowing that they can get away with it. They don’t care who gets hurt, as long as they make sales and babies die.”

Bentley anchored a panel that included SFLAction Vice President of Media & Policy Kristi Hamrick, who attended the event at Liberty University to advocate for an entire package of legislation that is inspired by the Supreme Court ruling in Carhart v. Gonzales.

“The states have a right to address harms to their citizens from a method and means of abortion,” said Hamrick. “All drug cartels are bad and should be addressed by law enforcement. But the leaders of this abortion drug cartel has a criminally unique goal in that, every time Chemical Abortion Pills are used, they want someone to die.”

An SFLAction Champion Honored:

At the event, SFLAction also proudly saluted Rep. McCravy, who was honored for his courageous leadership in support of the SFLAction’s Life at Conception bill, offered in South Carolina to protect life from the point at which biologists note life begins – at conception.

Hawkins and Rapert both traveled to South Carolina to support Rep. McCravy’s efforts, while even South Carolina GOP leaders attacked him.

In an opinion piece at Townhall, they denounced the intraparty attacks and wrote: “In America, we don’t determine someone’s value based on such arbitrary factors as their location or their age. So, we shouldn’t judge one person as less valuable simply because they’re located in the womb or because they’re at the very earliest stages of Life. That’s all too reminiscent of when we determined people’s value based on other arbitrary factors, like skin color or socioeconomic status.”

Rapert led a tribute to Rep. McCravy for his courage under fire.

“My friend, Rep. John McCravy, represents the kind of servant leadership that changes our country for the best,” said Rapert. “Working with legislators like John and groups like Students for Life, we will transform legislatures with prayer and policy, in that order. Christian lawmakers like John are important to saving our nation.”
