Hypothetically, if the media found out that Melania Trump cheated on a former husband with a teacher, it would’ve been the front-page news of every outlet in America. Likewise, if Usha Vance slapped J.D. Vance for being flirty with during a business trip, it would’ve ignited a media firestorm.
However, because the media serves as little more than the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, when the news came out that Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Second “Gentleman” Doug Emhoff, allegedly did all those things, it was virtual silence.
According to reporting from the NY Post, “Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband is being accused of slapping his ex-girlfriend for flirting with a valet worker at a ritzy gala in 2012, a new report claims.
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, 59, supposedly struck his then-girlfriend — described as a successful New York attorney — in the face so hard she spun around while in a valet line after an event at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012, the three unnamed friends of the woman reportedly told the Daily Mail.”
And for the affair incident, CBS News reports, “Second gentleman Doug Emhoff acknowledged Saturday to having an extramarital affair during his first marriage following a report about the relationship that appeared in DailyMail.com. The relationship with a teacher at his children’s school occurred several years before he met and married Vice President Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.”
Sure, a handful of articles. But did it dominate the political discourse? Hijack the air waves with the usual CNN or MSNBC talking head panels?
Nope. It was a passing mention, barely a blip on the media landscape.
One could argue that because it was rumor and innuendo it wouldn’t make headlines – because it would be irresponsible to drag someone’s reputation through the mud based upon single sourced information or conjecture that volatile.
Of course, that never stopped the media or the Democrats before. Flash back to when the press, Democrats, and even then Sen. Kamala Harris did exactly that to now U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and to the spouses of sitting Justices Clarence Thomas or Samuel Alito.
But let’s focus on Justice Kavanaugh – and for those who don’t remember, right before Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings were set to begin, the Democrats trotted out Christine Blaisley Ford. She, according to reporting from Washington Post, “wrote a confidential letter to a senior Democratic lawmaker alleging that Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than three decades ago, when they were high school students in suburban Maryland. Since Wednesday, she has watched as that bare-bones version of her story became public without her name or her consent, drawing a blanket denial from Kavanaugh and roiling a nomination that just days ago seemed all but certain to succeed.”
Students for Life of America (SFLA) supported this nomination, launching a #Justice4Life tour that visited numerous states, including North Dakota, Alaska, Indiana, Missouri and West Virginia, meeting with Senator’s Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska. A strong Catholic and a good man, SFLA was proud to support and advocate for his nomination.

What followed was a kangaroo court Senate hearing where Kavanaugh was grilled relentlessly by Democrats over several days on live national TV. Accusations about his drinking, business dealings, private life, and credit card spending became fodder.
Kavanaugh, no shrinking violet, responded in kind, saying “I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. You have tried hard. You’ve given it your all. No one can question your efforts. Your coordinated and well-funded efforts to destroy my good name and destroy my family will not drag me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. You may defeat me in the final vote, but you’ll never get me to quit. Never.”
His passionate defense of his own name and family was dragged mercilessly by the press.
“Brett Kavanaugh’s credibility has not survived this devastating hearing,” sneered The Guardian.
“An angry, emotional Kavanaugh accuses Democrats of ‘search and destroy,’” declared NBC.
Outside the Supreme Court, Congress, and even Brett Kavanaugh’s personal residence, protests and counter-rallies sprung up. At one such event at Kavanaugh’s House, SFLA staff were interviewing protestors and trying to have conversations, a pro-abortionist man shoved one of our staff.

This is how they treated a man who defended his innocence against accusations leveled by one person, and those who dared to stand up for him.
Do you think Kamala Harris’ husband would EVER get that level of discourse and scorn from the establishment media? Or that kind of hatred or vitriol from the public?
Of course not. And as the written in the pages of the Washington Examiner, “if those accusations against Kavanaugh were enough for Harris to deem him a rapist and try to keep him off the Supreme Court, and later try to remove him from the court, then what are these accusations supposed to mean for Emhoff?”
If reporters wanted to prove their integrity and professionalism, they would be asking Vice President Kamala Harris every single day about this exact point. Fairness and consistency demand it.
But if America’s political left didn’t have double standards, it would have no standards.
