Students for Life Action’s “Pregnant Students’ Rights Act” Featured as Signature U.S. House & Senate Floor Vote as the National Pro-Life March Takes Place
Votes will be scored for the “Pregnant Students’ Rights Act” & “Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act”
“Congress has another wonderful opportunity to pass two, common-sense pieces of legislation designed to help pregnant & parenting students on college campuses and to support pregnancy resource centers, which outnumber Planned Parenthood by 15-1. The pro-abortion Left will do everything in their power to shut these pieces of legislation down. This is an opportunity for the GOP to expose Democrats’ extremist views on abortion to the American people as well as love them both – mother and preborn child.” said Kristan Hawkins, President, Students for Life Action.
WASHINGTON D.C. (01-21-2026) — Students for Life Action (SFLAction) will score two, supportive services bills, including our “Pregnant Students’ Rights Act,” as well as the “Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act,” which will ensure college students are informed of all of their life-affirming options according to the Title IX rights and that pregnancy resource centers receive the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) funds they deserve. “No mother should feel pressured to choose between her child and her education. Universities that care about helping students succeed at home as well as in life already support all parts of student life — education, career, and family. But many schools push for abortion rather than for help extended to young families. To rebuild a pro-life and pro-family culture in America, Congress must act to protect pregnant and parenting students who are working to build a better life for their families,” said Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins.
Pro-life legislators will find that the Youth Vote will be MORE supportive of efforts to limit abortion when there is support for young families. According to Students for Life’s 2026 Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement poll, out now from Survey USA, “The Overton window shifted for Life, as there was a 7-point change in favor of abortion limits by abortion supporting youth IF families got the help they needed. Overall, three in 10 youth voters (34%) would be more willing to accept limits on abortion if they knew that the state and federal government offered increased support for mothers, children, and families.”
Today, the U.S. House is expected to bring up the “Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act,” while later this week, a vote is expected on SFLAction’s “Pregnant Students’ Rights Act.” On Monday, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to also bring up SFLAction’s bill.
“If you look at the votes for the “Pregnant Students’ Rights Act” and the “Supporting Pregnant Women and Parenting Families Act” in the 118th Congress, it should shock Americans that every single Democrat in the U.S. House voted against BOTH BILLS. They opposed giving pregnant & parenting students information about the help available to them in college and opposed amending the TANF statute to prohibit discrimination against pregnancy centers and clarify that use of funds for pregnancy centers is allowable. Last Congress, the U.S. Senate didn’t advance the bill. But we have another chance in this session of Congress to educate students about all their choices,” said Hawkins. “A pro-abortion mindset poisons a lot of campus life, and we fight for the free speech rights of our pro-life students every day.
Students for Life Action will score the votes of H.R. 6359: “The Pregnant Students’ Rights Act,” and the “Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act.”
