Students for Life Action Celebrates the U.S. House Reconciliation Budget Bill Advancement; One Step Closer to Telling Planned Parenthood & All Abortion Vendors to “Go Fund Themselves”

The Pro-Life Generation’s Grassroots Network Has Visited 33 of 34 Targeted District Offices since Friday, Urging Members of the U.S. House & U.S. Senate to Stop the Forced Funding of Abortion in America

Now underway: Dial to Defund! A National Outreach to let Members of Congress know we want their vote to defund Planned Parenthood and all abortion vendors

WASHINGTON D.C. (05-15-2025) — As the U.S. House Energy & Commerce Committee advanced their reforms to the full House Budget Committee with a 30-24 vote, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins said that the focus of grassroots efforts now expands to include the U.S. Senate, asking that the bill language, which would end the forced funding of abortion by cutting out abortion vendors like Planned Parenthood for 10 years, makes it into their budget draft. After the Senate & House measures are reconciled, the Pro-Life Generation wants to see a “Big Beautiful Bill” that includes zero dollars for the abortion industry reach President Donald Trump’s desk for his signature.

These upcoming votes in both the House & Senate will be scored by SFLAction on our Pro-Life Generation Report Card, our version of a legislative scorecard, and those scores will be shared with our activists in all 50 states and throughout the pro-life community.

Hawkins made the following remarks: “The Pro-Life Generation will score the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ language in the U.S. House budget package in the floor vote, for the hope of ending the forced funding of abortion vendors like Planned Parenthood for a period of 10 years. That’s a win for the voters across the country who rejected the most radical, pro-abortion ticket in world history – Kamala Harris and Tim Walz – to embrace the leadership of President Trump. With so many Federally Qualified Healthcare Providers able to help women in need, we can make America healthy again with options that promote Life. And we call on those in the U.S. Senate to incorporate the U.S. House language in their budget draft. A collapsing abortion industry should not be propped up with our scarce taxpayer resources. We have every right as taxpayers to decide whom we do business with. It’s time for Planned Parenthood to go fund itself.”

In the last week, Students for Life Action launched a new campaign to activate the grassroots movement – Dial to Defund – in conjunction with district office visits in a week that included news that Planned Parenthood has seized even more taxpayer resources than previously known.

That followed an impressive event on Capitol Hill this March as pro-life leaders from across the country joined a Defund Planned Parenthood & Big Abortion media event as well as a lobby day, letting members of Congress know that their pro-life voters were fully engaged.
