“Starting in 2017, Students for Life started raising concerns about abortion water pollution, allowed by the reckless policies of THREE Democratic Party Presidents who forced Chemical Abortion Pills on the market and then deregulated them. But even if you support abortion, that doesn’t mean you want to drink abortion water pollution,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “A New York Times report that the EPA is talking our concerns seriously is a great way to start a weekend.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (10-10-2025) – The New York Times report that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is looking into testing for abortion water pollution was welcomed by Students for Life of America (SFLA) President Kristan Hawkins who commended the Trump Administration for “finally doing the work ignored by the abortion radicals who controlled three Democrat administrations. This is a win for everyone who wants crystal clear drinking water.”
In 2017 and 2018, Hawkins first raised SFLA’s concerns about abortion water pollution when SFLA opposed California’s attempts to put Chemical Abortion Pills into publicly funded college and university health centers. That lead to a concerted effort including FIVE Citizen Petitions to the FDA and a series of letters to the EPA, starting during the Biden years, calling for an evaluation of the impact of the recklessly deregulated Chemical Abortion Pills.
SFLA, in a recent report, notes that using the abortion industry’s unconfirmed estimates of Chemical Abortion Pill use, that would mean MORE THAN 50 TONS of chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue, along with human remains, are flushed into America’s waterways every year.
