Killing preborn children with beating hearts is no longer legal in Texas thanks to the official enactment of the Texas Heartbeat Act.
What is the BILL?
Senate Bill 8 or the Texas Heartbeat Bill prohibits abortions once the preborn child has a detectable heartbeat. The bill allows for private parties to sue abortionists who illegally commit abortions and holds them accountable with large fines.
The average woman first finds out she is pregnant at 5.5 weeks gestation (3.5 weeks fetal age) when the heart starts at 5 weeks gestation (3 weeks fetal age).* So, most women don’t even know they are pregnant until after the heart starts beating.
This bill is a victory in two ways:
- The bill stops almost all abortions in the state of Texas.
- This bill contains a first-of-its-kind provision empowering average citizens to enforce the law.
Why does it MATTER?
We have the opportunity to effectively SHUT DOWN the abortion industry, which profits off the slaughter of the most vulnerable population in our society. Additionally, without having the option to kill their child after the heartbeat is detectable, women will be able to get real resources from Pregnancy Help Centers and Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers that provide LIVE-SAVING CARE!
