Students for Life Action (SFLAction), along with many other pro-life and pro-family organizations, are excited to see growing support for an increased Child Tax Credit (CTC). The CTC is a bipartisan way to ensure that families are empowered to raise children in America without feeling financially strangled. Part of SFLAction’s Post-Roe Blueprint is expanding the CTC, a program designed to invest in young families who are sacrificing to raise the next generation – future taxpayers and citizens.
Regarding the concerns for this current CTC package provides, we want to clarify three key things:
- Firstly, this is a continuation of the TCJA provisions that were passed under Trump.
- Secondly, it is the lower-income families who are served by this provision who are the most negatively affected by income fluctuations and are also the most positively impacted by CTC. Conservatives can and should support this CTC package, lookback provisions included, as this is the way forward to show our pro-life and pro-family values align.
- Thirdly, the CTC is also a bi-partisan program, supported by that hard-to-reach cohort – the Youth Vote – now about one-third of the electorate. Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement recent YouGov poll illustrates the appeal of such a program. More than 6 in 10 support the spirit of the CTC as federal policy.
It is to the benefit of America as a whole, and families, that the Pro-Life Generation calls on Congress to help families in the early days of parenting. SFLAction is pleased to witness Congress members from both sides of the isle stepping up in taking action to empower hard working American families to raise children.
Since Roe was overturned, 32,000 babies are living in this world today and expanding the CTC is one way the Pro-Life Generation can help ensure those children have the resources they need to thrive in their childhood years. Being anti-abortion does not only mean saving babies lives from abortion, but also working to provide for those children and mothers in need. Promoting a culture of life does not end after the baby is born, it is from conception to natural death.
