The Pro-Life Generation is Thrilled Over the Future Hearing of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

On Monday May 17, the United States Supreme Court decided that it will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The case involves a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy with limited exceptions. This is BIG news for the Pro-Life Movement. Although this would not entirely ban abortion, it would save millions of Americans from the tragedy of abortion. This case is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade, which made abortion legal up until viability. If passed, Dodd would allow states the freedom to restrict abortion pre-viability.

Roe v. Wade cultivated a culture of death in our country and destroyed true equality. Roe pushed our country and court system to devalue human life at its most vulnerable stages. The pro-abortion movement coopted the feminist movement and conflated true equality with the right to oppress our children. It has been almost 50 years since this court case, but the pro-life movement has not been deterred in our efforts.

As a pro-life student leader, I often feel discouraged and alone in this movement. Maybe you are on a pro-choice campus, and all your peers seem to always be against you. Or you are at a private university that thrives on the pro-life identity, but students are very apathetic about abortion. I have been in both situations, and the battle can feel long, discouraging, and never ending.

But Dodd symbolizes hope for our generation. No matter how tired, discouraged, and beaten down we feel, we must keep our eyes on the prize. This case could potentially overturn the 1973 landmark ruling.

As pro-life leaders, we know that the preborn are alive, unique, and distinct human beings from the moment of conception. We know that the preborn are human beings that are consistently devalued in our culture and that though they are here they are voiceless. We are called to be their voices.

The tide is truly turning for the pro-life movement, and we are the generation that will abolish abortion. What will you do to take action today?
