In a groundbreaking move, Texas has passed a law that directly targets the growing threat of mail-order deadly Chemical Abortion Pills, which Students for Life of America (SFLA) President Kristan Hawkins calls “death by mail” in her new Townhall op-ed, while praising the Students for Life Action (SFLAction) inspired legislation.

SFLAction has long pointed out how the unregulated access to Chemical Abortion Pills aids abusers and harms women and children. This innovative legislation empowers local prosecutors to take action even when federal authorities won’t, closing loopholes that have allowed Chemical Abortion Pills to flood communities unchecked.

The law is a bold assertion of state sovereignty and a clear message: Texas will not stand by while lives are lost through anonymous packages and unregulated pills. It’s a model for other states seeking to protect life and hold bad actors accountable.

With this law, Texas isn’t just regulating—it’s leading. Read an excerpt of Hawkins op-ed below:

“Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has put a price tag on breaking Texas pro-life laws, putting the Chemical Abortion Pill industry on notice – if you break the law in Texas by peddling deadly drugs, this first-in-the-nation approach will allow for lawsuits with awards of up to $100,000. Other states need to consider this innovative approach as well.

Women and children in the Lone Star State needed the Women and Child Protection Act to save thousands of lives, to stop sex predators in their tracks, and to send a clear message that Texas will not be a safe haven for Chemical Abortion Pill traffickers. Those who break our laws will face penalties because we are serious about our love for both mother and child, born and preborn.”
