WASHINGTON D.C. (11-12-2025) – Following a vote in the U.S. House to allow the federal government to fund itself, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins made the following statement: “I hope taxpayers will remember that the Democratic Party leadership was willing to withhold funds from programs that support hungry children to fight for abortion in Obamacare. We’re glad the government is opening back up, but some things need to stay closed. When the debate starts again, abortion coverage in Obamacare needs to end. Taxpayers in all 50 states prop up this human rights disaster by being forced to subsidize abortion as federal tax dollars allow the exchanges to operate. SFLAction will score against any effort to allow taxpayer support of programs that fund abortion. Hyde protections should be attached, at a bare minimum.”
