Pro-Children, Pro-Women, Pro-Family: State Legislations Embracing What It Means to Be Pro-Life

Being pro-life doesn’t end at birth. Pro-life is pro-children, pro-women, and pro-family. And now state legislators around the country are stepping up to truly embody what it means to be pro-life with Students for Life Action (SFLAction)-championed legislation that helps children, women, and families thrive.

This is key, as a January 2026 Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement poll found that 34% of the Youth Vote would be more willing to accept abortion limits if they knew mothers, children, and families received increased support from state and federal government — a 7-point change in favor of Life. It’s time for state and federal legislators to step up to the plate and show youth voters — and the country at large — that the pro-life movement offers what the pro-abortion activists don’t: hope, support, protection, and encouragement. These state legislations take big steps in the right direction.

Arizona

The Arizona House is considering two SFLAction-championed bills, the “Act Against Public Educational Institutions Encouraging or Supporting Abortions” (HB2060), sponsored by Rep. Rachel Keshel (R), and the “Act Prohibiting Public Funding for Abortions” (HB2154), sponsored by Rep. Lupe Diaz (R), to help support women choosing Life.

HB2060 restricts public educational institutions from committing and encouraging abortions, reinforcing the truth that women don’t need to sacrifice their children for their education, as well as ensuring that public funds go toward support pregnant and parenting students rather than toward killing their children.

HB2154 restricts public funding for family planning services from going to institutions committing and referring for abortions, and instead go toward supporting families.

Iowa

Iowa’s SFLAction-championed “Childcare for Foster Children Act” (HF2083) ensures the state’s Department of Health and Human Services pays for foster children’s care at the same rate as children with special needs, making sure all children receive the care they need.

The SFLAction-championed “Informed Consent for Dispensing Abortion-Inducing Drugs Act” (SSB3115) mandates that a woman must be fully informed by her physician, with written confirmation, about the risks of Chemical Abortion Pills before dispensing them to the woman. This helps ensure women know about the medical emergencies resulting from Chemical Abortion Pills that the abortion lobby has been sweeping under the rug before the women commit to taking deadly pills.

Kansas

The SFLAction-championed “Pregnancy Center Autonomy and Rights of Expression Act” (HB2635) protects private, nonprofit, and medical pregnancy centers from being forced to dispense Chemical Abortion Pills, and from being punished for providing resources and making staffing decisions in accord with their mission in supporting Life and those who choose Life.

Ohio

In Ohio, the SFLAction-championed “Patient Protection Act” (HB324), sponsored by Rep. Adam Matthews (R) and Rep. Meredith Craig (R) requires in-person exams, informed consent about potential severe side effects, and scheduled follow-up appointments when prescribing dangerous drugs that cause severe side effects in more than 5% of those who take them. This would include Chemical Abortion Pills. This helps ensure women know about the medical emergencies resulting from Chemical Abortion Pills before committing to taking deadly pills and helps prevent life-threatening medical emergencies resulting from Chemical Abortion Pills due to increased medical oversight of the deadly pills.

Oklahoma

Pregnancy centers receive enhanced protection with the SFLAction-championed “Act Relating to Pregnancy Centers” (HB3194), sponsored by Rep. Denise Crosswhite Hader (R) and Rep. Julie McIntosh (R). This legislation would protect pregnancy centers from being required to commit abortions, dispense Chemical Abortion Pills, refer for abortions, and promote abortions through advertisements or resources.

These state legislations embrace the well-rounded meaning of being pro-life: Ensuring children get the care they need, refusing to allow Big Abortion to force abortion into life-affirming organizations, and protecting women’s health and safety from abortion activists’ lies about the safety of Chemical Abortion Pills.

You can support these legislations by joining us in calling on legislators in these states to support children, women, and families by passing these and other pro-life legislations.
