Students for Life Action calls on Gov. Tate Reeves to Sign the “Pregnancy Resources Act” & Join Legislators in Supporting Mothers & Children
“We are one signature away from providing life-saving resources to selfless nonprofits set up to help families in those early days of parenting,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “Taxpayers have been forced to prop up all kinds of abortion vendors. It is long overdue to invest in those whose plan for parenthood is to embrace it.”

JACKSON, MS. (04–13-2026) — Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins called on Gov. Tate Reeves to sign the SFLAction-championed “Pregnancy Resources Act” (SB3124), which advanced from the Mississippi House by a vote of 90-30. The bill has now passed by both chambers and will become law even without signature, if not vetoed. “Gov. Reeves has a chance to ensure that state resources help vulnerable families who chose LIFE for their babies,” said Hawkins. “For years, organizations pushing and committing abortions have received taxpayer support. It is only right that selfless non-profits working day and night to support stressed mothers and their children get more resources.”
If signed into law, Mississippi would increase support for Pregnancy Resource Centers that offer mothers the resources and support they need to confidently choose Life. The “Pregnancy Resources Act” expands support for pregnancy care centers by allowing a tax credit for eligible Pregnancy Resource Centers that meet the definition of an “eligible organization.”
The tax credit:
- Can be used to offset up to 50% of the Pregnancy Resource Center’s state income tax liability and 50% of real property ad valorem (property) taxes.
- Cannot be claimed by the Pregnancy Resource Center as a donation to be deducted from state taxes.
- Carries forward for up to 5 years if it exceeds what is owed in taxes by the Pregnancy Resource Center this year.
“Eligible organizations” qualifications include:
- Pregnancy Resource Centers.
- Organizations that exclusively provide financial assistance to Pregnancy Resource Centers.
“Eligible organizations” must be physically located in Mississippi and have a dedicated phone line. All medical procedures offered must also be performed by licensed medical professionals.
According to a January 2026 Students for Life’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement survey conducted and released by Survey USA, the Youth Vote shifts significantly in support of abortion limits when mothers, children, and families receive increased support from state and federal government. With a 7-point change in favor of Life, 34% are more willing to accept abortion limits alongside the support provided by pregnancy care centers that this legislation protects.
And according to a February Cygnal poll, Republican voters want action on pro-life legislation, too, with 32% stating they are less likely to vote in the upcoming midterms if they feel the GOP is not addressing abortion.
