In a Bicameral Appeal, Legislators ask Health & Human Services to Check Planned Parenthood’s Receipts

“The Trump Administration has heroically used agency authority to investigate fraud and abuse in federal programs. The allegations of misconduct and fraud by Planned Parenthood, the nation’s number one abortion vendor, demand that they be treated the same,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “We support the President’s team as they look at COVID fraud and abuse, but they need to keep looking all the way to abortion vendors who are working every day to make sure that the GOP fails and that they get back on the payroll.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (10-02-2026) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins called a bicameral letter SFLAction championed, which demands an investigation of Planned Parenthood, “long overdue and the right way to handle an organization that profits from life-ending, fertility-destroying sales, propped up with taxpayer resources. SFLAction has been calling for a debarment investigation of Planned Parenthood since the first Trump Administration, and, now, support for that effort is on the rise. SFLAction promoted and scored the letter, calling for signatures of support as efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion stalled after July 4, when the mega-death distributors received access to millions in federal funds after a one-year cut to healthcare spending ended, as the “Big, Beautiful Bill” failed to provide longer-term taxpayer relief.
The letter can be seen in the Fox reporting, which notes: “Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., led the bicameral effort, asking Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Inspector General T. March Bell to review Planned Parenthood‘s federal funding and determine whether the organization and its affiliates have complied with federal laws and funding requirements … ‘We write to request that the Office of Inspector General (OIG) review and, if appropriate, initiate an investigation into the activities of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. and the organization’s affiliates,’ the lawmakers wrote.”
This letter follows another SFLAction-led effort that was delivered at the RNC Mini-Convention. Forty pro-life/pro-family leaders wrote to the Trump Administration to investigate Planned Parenthood to allow for debarment: an agency review following allegations that can result in telling the abortion mega vendor, “You’re Fired.”

“Pro-life voters, like every part of the GOP coalition, deserve a return on investment for our support of the Trump Administration, which has diligently sought to address fraud and waste of scarce taxpayer resources,” said Hawkins in a news release about the letter. “They must finish the investigation launched at the SBA earlier this year. We don’t need 60 votes in the U.S. Senate for the Trump Administration to take a good look at what passes for ‘service’ at Planned Parenthood. Even the New York Times admits there are issues with ‘botched care and tired staff.’”

“… When they were in power, Democratic Party leaders called for more use of administrative debarment. In 2022, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ben Ray Lujan sent a letter to the DOJ criticizing the agency for not suspending or debarring “corporate criminals” from the government contracting process, urging the DOJ to “pursue more robust use of its suspension and debarment authority.”
“Further, women don’t need Planned Parenthood and have other, better options. As Kaiser reports, most women get healthcare from a private doctor’s office. For low-income families, there are more than 19,000 FQHCs, FQHC service sites, and FQHC “look-a-likes” across the United States. An estimated 5,500 specifically provide women’s health services. Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, has less than 600 vendors. FQHCs served 32.5 million patients in 2024, compared to Planned Parenthood’s 2.08 million, as reported in their most recent annual report. Women have choices in where to go.”
THE LARGEST VOTING BLOC WANTS LESS ABORTION: The largest voting bloc in the country — the Youth Vote — doesn’t want what the Democratic Party and their socialist friends are selling. Students for Life’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement poll earlier this year noted that less than 1 in 10 supported the left’s support of abortion through all nine months, for any reason at all, with taxpayer funding, and without protections for babies born during botched abortions.
