Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz made headlines the other day during the “White Dudes for Harris” event, which was as cringe inducing and awful as one would imagine. During his segment of the campaign zoom call, Walz commented that “one person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”
He may be more socialist than even his comments suggest.
According to a recent column in The National Review, “Two bills signed by Walz in 2023… repealed Minnesota’s prohibition on coercing women into having abortions. They stripped out of the state’s laws the requirement that women give informed consent — indeed, any consent — to an abortion. They guaranteed an unqualified right to abortion up until the moment of birth, and even gutted protections for children born alive after abortion.”
(The full piece goes into greater detail and complexity on the language of the law, and out of respect for the work done by the author, we will not copy and paste it all here – READ THE FULL OPED HERE).
Coerced abortion – as in, against the desire of the woman getting it. Now that does sound like socialism, veering on outright Communism. Here are some other socialist countries that engage in this horrible practice:
There’s more proof in the way he has governed – yes, like a socialist. During the COVID-19 crisis, Walz called for neighbors to snitch on each other, creating a COVID-19 tip-line, according to Reason Magazine. “Walz issued and extended orders for restaurants, gyms, and other businesses to shut down. This included outdoor dining service for eating establishments. Over 150 businesses formed the Reopen Minnesota Coalition and urged the governor to relent, but Walz was unmoved.”
The result was that Walz went way too far, resulting in closed business and tens of thousands of unemployed workers.
But that’s not the end of Walz socialist style of leadership – and while far from a comprehensive list, this includes:
- Wanting to equip illegal immigrants with ladders to climb over the Trump border wall.
- Signing laws in Minnesota that give illegal immigrants access to taxpayer funded health care, tuition, and drivers’ licenses.
- Removing critically needed resources from police in the wake of the summer 2020 George Floyd riots that incinerated numerous businesses and city blocks in Minneapolis.
- Advocating for recreational marijuana usage and rights.
- Refusing to ban books from school libraries, regardless of how extreme or potentially illicit their content.
- Arguing that biological men should be allowed to play in women’s sports.
- Pushing for a 70% gas tax in the state of Minnesota.
A separate but still interesting point: even the frequently weird word salad that Vice President Kamala Harris about “being unburdened” may have “Marxist roots” according to a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) of academic James Lindsay speaking with Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk.
Gov. Walz could be embarrassed by the label – after all, it’s not clear if he has outright called himself a socialist like U.S. House of Representatives Member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York or Se. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. But the Democrat Socialists of America are claiming credit for getting him on the ticket, and Walz’s painfully woke record speaks for itself.
As the saying goes: if it walks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck.
