In Defense of Sen. Tuberville’s Principled Stand Against Aborting Military Family Members, Students for Life Action will Score the Vote to Change the Military Promotions Regulation

“If members of the Republican Party want to give up one of the few ways to be heard in U.S. Senate as the minority just so that precious military family members can be lost to intentional abortion, they should quit and go work for Planned Parenthood,” said Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins.  “Any GOP Senator voting to hand over their legislative choices to empower abortion radicals should prepare for long-term opposition.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (11-13-2023) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins announced that the Pro-Life Generation would score an up-coming vote on military promotions regulations, the standing order resolution to allow military nominees to be confirmed or blocked on the Pro-Life Generation Report Card, as the Senate Rules Committee is expected to act today.  Hawkins made the following comments: “Inexplicably, some GOP Senators supported the Biden Administration and Corporate Abortion over Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and innocent preborn babies. Primary voters will be reminded of this when the time comes, and the effort to go around Sen. Tuberville’s principled stand will be scored.

“Don’t think that pro-life voters haven’t noticed that certain GOP Senators didn’t take to the floor of the U.S. Senate to denounce the radical abortion extremism of the Biden Administration or to oppose a shockingly illegal move to force the military to facilitate abortion. Instead, they tried to silence a Pro-Life colleague, and now they contemplate a self-inflicted wound to their minority options. Any GOP Senator voting to hand over their legislative choices to empower abortion radicals should prepare for long-term opposition.”

As SFLAction reported when this move was first discussed: Despite the fact that members of the U.S. Senate have noted that such funding is not allowed, Senators Dan Sullivan (Alaska), Todd C. Young (Indiana), Joni Ernst (Iowa),  Lindsey Graham (South Carolina), and Mitt Romney (Utah) came together on the floor of the U.S. Senate in an attack on a fellow Senator – rather than on the radical abortion-supporting administration that caused the chaos.”

On the proposed change in regulation: Currently, an effort is underway to change the regulation that allows for objection to promotions, a tool that allows minority voices to be heard. While the specific change could make it harder to object to military promotions, it would also provide a roadmap for loosening rules on other appointments, like judges, ambassadors, or to fast track bills. At issue: not only are certain GOP Senators helping the Biden Administration force abortion funding into the budget, but they are also considering silencing voices in their own party and giving away what little influence those in the minority have available.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest, pro-life youth organization, managing a political and policy operation engaging Americans of all ages but with a special emphasis on the largest segment of voters — the Youth Vote. Together they provide political, legal, educational, and community support for women and children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA serves more than 1,400 groups on middle, high school, college, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with this generation targeted by the abortion lobby than any other pro-life operation in the world, each week reaching more than 4 million across social media platforms and averaging 1.3 million video views. SFLA has also launched multiple initiatives to lead and serve the future of the pro-life movement including the Campaign for Abortion Free Cities, Standing With You, and the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement . Over more than 17 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA and the Pro-Life Generation into a nearly $20M organization, now preparing for an abortion-free America.
