“Idaho has been a home to many pro-life champions, and tonight’s results mean that new leaders are on the move,” said SFLAction’s Kristan Hawkins. “The fight to protect Life is never truly over, as we see with the Biden Administration’s lawsuit against Idaho in the Supreme Court. That’s why more than ever we need strong pro-life champions who can hold the line for life in my new home state.”

Boise, Idaho (05-22-2024) Students for Life Action (SFLAction) celebrates the election of SIX pro-life leaders in Idaho’s state House and Senate primary races. SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins said, “Idaho has led the way with pro-life protections and defense of the preborn, and last night’s victories only strengthens the pro-life coalition that exists in Idaho. My new home state made their voices heard tonight – the result is that preborn children and expecting mothers can know that strong-on-life legislators are ready for the November election.”

Numerous successful candidates returned the Students for Life Action Candidate Survey and pledged to vote pro-life 100%, including:

Senate District 8 – Christy Zito

Senate District 9 – Brandon Shippy

Senate District 10 – Tammy Nichols

Senate District 13 – Brian Lenney

Senate District 20 – Josh Keyser

House District 8A – Robert Beiswenger

SFLAction remains active in Idaho, even though the state has strong pro-life laws on the books, which began in 2022 when Governor Brad Little signed the Defense of Life Act after the Dobbs decision. In that time, we’ve supported the following efforts to the state’s pro-life laws:

  • In January 2023,SFLAction supported the introduction of the Clean Water for All Life Act, to combat dumping of potentially dangerous chemicals into our water supply through human remains who will killed via Chemical Abortion Pills. These pills contain “endocrine disruptors” that interfere with a body’s hormones and are linked with developmental, reproductive, brain, immune system functions as well as tainting our food supply and harming livestock.

  • In January 2024, SFLAction engaged lawmakers and voters in the state capital as part of a lobby day effort, generating awareness and support for the Clean Water for All Life Act.

Additionally, SFLAction rallied in support of Idaho at the United States Supreme Court as it heard arguments in State of Idaho v. United States,. The case centers around a regulation called EMTALA— the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act – designed to require hospitals to stabilize all patients in the emergency room, regardless of their ability to pay. This law is being hijacked by the Biden Administration to change a regulation to force states that respect preborn life to commit abortions in emergency rooms.

Leading up to the election, SFLAction sent out 65,064 text messages, and made 38,952 phone calls across eleven targeted districts.

“The pro-life winners tonight deserve congratulations on well fought race, and we look forward to supporting their candidacy this fall in the general election,” said Hawkins. “Idaho has fought hard for life, and I believe despite the desperate attempts by the radically pro-abortion Biden Administration, the abortion industrial complex will lose in the end.”
