MEDIA ADVISORY: SFLAction Hosts Protection at Conception Lobby Day at State Capital, Calls on Legislators to Make Florida the Pro-Life Capital of America

“Florida legislators should waste no time taking up life-saving laws this session,” said Kristan Hawkins, SFLAction President. “With a Republican majority in a post-Roe America, there’s no reason that Florida shouldn’t be the pro-life capital of America. The state’s current limits only prevent 7% of abortions quickly turning the Sunshine State into the state of abortion tourism. We’re calling upon Senate President Passidomo and Speaker Renner to get Governor DeSantis pro-life legislation this year and protect the most innocent members of our society from the violence of abortion.”

TALLAHASSEE, FL (03-07-2023) – Today, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) will gather at Florida’s State Capital to call on legislators to take up life-saving legislation with the start of the new session. Starting at 1:00 PM EST, SFLAction will be joined by key pro-life leaders on the outdoor steps of the capital.

SFLAction has visited Senate President Kathleen Passidomo’s district office in Naples, Florida and plans on bringing the same message of protection at conception to Tallahassee with the start of a new legislative season. “It’s unacceptable to see 82,192 reported abortions in Florida from January 2022 to February 2023,” added Hawkins.

Hawkins, SFLAction student leaders, Florida Voice for the Unborn, and others will call upon Passidomo, Speaker Paul Renner, and their colleagues to #VoteProLifeFirst and allow greater protections that safeguard women and the preborn to be introduced this legislative session.

During their grassroots mobilization, SFLAction has sent 154,183 personal text messages, made 112,757 phone calls, and personally delivered more than 2,500 signed petitions.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,300 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 16 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a Post-Roe America.
