The Students for Life Action Measure Provides the Strongest Anti-Trafficking Protection for Preborn Babies & Their Mothers
“The state of Oklahoma has set the bar high, offering the strongest protections on the books to prevent abusers from targeting preborn babies and their mothers with deadly drugs designed to kill at least one person every time they are used,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “I proudly stood with Gov. J. Kevin Stitt and legislative leaders as the bill was signed into law. Anti-trafficking bills are among the most significant efforts right now in the states to address a new abortion cartel, but it’s clear that federal action is still needed and the Trump Administration needs to enforce the Comstock Act.”
OKLAHOMA CITY, O.K. (08-14-2026) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins celebrated the win for LIFE as SFLAction model legislation, the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” (HB1168), has gone into effect. Oklahoma is the first state to pass an anti-trafficking act with criminal penalties, and the third state this year to pass an “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act,” as part of an SFLAction-inspired effort to end the country’s primary method of abortion today — death by mail.
Hawkins also saluted the House primary sponsor Rep. Denise Crosswhite Hader and Senate primary sponsor Sen. David Bullard for “never giving up on both protecting babies and stopping abusers, who love the easy access to the deadly drugs.”
As previously reported by SFLAction:
The landmark bill passed Oklahoma’s State Senate 37-10 in Spring 2026, having previously passed the state’s House of Representatives by a vote of 77-19 in Spring 2025. The bill now goes to Governor Kevin Stitt’s desk for signature.
Governor Kevin Stitt signed the bill into law, making Oklahoma the first state to create criminal penalties for illegally trafficking deadly chemical abortion pills.
“Oklahoma has shown they care about protecting women and children,” said Hawkins. “But far too many other states have failed to do the same. No more. Students for Life Action will be scoring votes on Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Bills across the country, forcing legislators to either take a stand or prove that they don’t actually care about protecting women. Tragically, this new law illustrates the critical need for the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice to enforce the Comstock Act, a federal law that prohibits mailing the deadly pills.”
“Today, Oklahoma’s ‘Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act’ from Students for Life Action officially takes effect, and I couldn’t be prouder,” said the bill’s co-sponsor, House Rep. Denise Crosswhite Hader. “Four years ago, I set out to close the loophole that let traffickers ship dangerous chemical abortion pills into our state with no oversight and no accountability. This law protects vulnerable women who have too often been coerced or deceived into taking these pills with no medical care or support. It’s projected to save around four thousand preborn babies a year in Oklahoma, and every one of those lives matters. I’m grateful to everyone who fought alongside us to get here.”
“Four years of work led to this day,” said the other bill co-sponsor, State Senator David Bullard. “Oklahoma’s “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” from Students for Life Action is now the law of the land, and traffickers who ship these deadly pills into our state can finally be held criminally accountable. We estimate this law will save roughly four thousand preborn babies a year in Oklahoma. That’s four thousand reasons this fight was worth it, and I’m proud of every person who helped carry it across the finish line.”
