Predatory and Weaponizing the Budget: How State Legislatures are Targeting Minors, “Misusing” Millions to Push Abortion

Pro-abortion activists never fail to show how intent they are on killing preborn babies. Below are just a few bills that show how far they will go to increase the number of babies aborted, no matter what it takes.

Connecticut

Connecticut’s House Bill 05168 would cut parents out of their children’s care and aid child sex abusers by removing parental consent from abortion, contraception, and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and substance abuse. It also removes the requirement for mental healthcare providers to disclose this information to parents or guardians as it relates to mental healthcare for the minor. So, if a minor had an abortion or STI or was struggling with a drug addiction, all of which could be results of or components of sexual abuse, that information can be kept secret from the child’s parents.

Not only does this infringe on the rights and duties of parents, but it aids sex abusers and enables exploitation of minors who are not old enough to make medical decisions.

Illinois

Nearly 1 in 4 women looking to get out-of-state abortions go to Illinois. Now, the state is working to further its mission of killing preborn children, regardless of the harm it causes to women.

House Bill 5295 seeks to omit information on abortion from being shared in health information exchanges (HIEs) across state lines. Not only does this prevent doctors from providing adequate care for harmful and potentially life-threatening conditions resulting from abortions (damage to cervix, uterine perforation, premature births and miscarriages, sepsis, substance abuse, and more), it also shields abortionists from facing legal action for botched procedures and medical malpractice. It could also protect Chemical Abortion Pills from facing the music from causing harmful and even deadly effects to women.

Legislators are also making it clear they would rather kill a mother’s child than offer support when the mother is facing financial hardship. House Bill 5408 would create the Abortion Access Fund Grant Program to fund abortions for uninsured women and women whose insurance doesn’t cover abortion when federal funding won’t cover the abortion due to the Hyde Amendment. The money comes from funds collected by insurance companies who are required to collect monthly fees for plans that cover abortions; House Bill 5408 would require insurance companies to surrender 90% of the excess funds collected to the state. So, although a new tax is not created, taxpayers’ money would still be surrendered to the state to pay for other people’s abortions.

Hawaii

As legislation against Chemical Abortion Pills ramps up, Hawaii legislators are seeking to ensure their state’s citizens can still easily kill their children.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 45 would create a three-year stockpile of mifepristone, which has a shelf life of about five years. The resolution maintains that in-person abortions are mostly available on Oahu and Maui, and that this stockpile would help other Hawaiians abort their babies via telehealth.

This horrific misuse of funds comes as Native Hawaiians are fleeing the state’s high cost of living, deficient job opportunities, and lack of affordable housing. Yet rather than put funds toward addressing these problems, legislators are focusing on aborting more Hawaiian babies.

With bills like these, pro-abortion activists once again demonstrate how intent they are to kill preborn children, not promote “choice” like they claim. They are willing to harm minors, hide medical information, terminate rather than support the financially unstable, and storehouse deadly drugs so children can continue to be aborted regardless of federal legal challenges.

This isn’t about helping women; it’s about aborting children, whatever it takes.

Students for Life Action will not stop until Life is protected in Law, and horrific legislations like these are both illegal and unthinkable.
