It is extremely rare these days to find any law maker able to take on media misinformation about abortion on national news shows. Sometimes the odds are three and four to one, with little available airtime … or pro-life voices are completely MIA by design. However, recently, pro-life champion Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) taught a master class in media engagement on NBC’s Meet the Press.
On May 19th, Sen. Rubio was one on one with Kristen Welker discussing what she called a “national abortion ban,” and whether he disagreed with President Trump’s statements about Florida’s Heartbeat Law, protecting preborn life with the universal sign of life – a heartbeat beat.

Sen. Rubio handled himself phenomenally. He not only fielded the questions, he masterfully explained the current debate, while pointing out the misinformation spewed by Welker.
Many members of Congress have avoided saying they will support abortion limits, yet Sen. Rubio unapologetically stated, “I support any laws that protect unborn human life. I believe that human life is worthy of dignity and protection. And I support laws that protect our unborn human life. I always have.” In this interview, Sen. Rubio also called out the Democratic Party’s extremism with their late-term abortion support.
America needs more lawmakers like Sen. Rubio who will unapologetically and outspokenly advocate to protect human life at the federal level. Students for Life Action has and will continue to work closely with Sen. Rubio and his hard-working team to take actions to protect preborn human life in law and in service.
SFLAction recently launched GOP FOR LIFE, an initiative that calls the RNC Party leadership, leading up to GOP platform committee debates, to ask for unapologetic defense of preborn life.
