Letter to Chairman Jim Jordan urges hearing on environmental and public health concerns tied to Chemical Abortion Pill pollution
“This is a human rights atrocity and an environmental crisis caused by the greed of Chemical Abortion Pill pushers and negligent federal policy,” wrote Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life Action (SFLAction). “With the frightening increase of infertility, miscarriage, and other health issues skyrocketing in our nation, this risk must not be overlooked.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (07-08-2026) — Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins sent a letter to Chairman Jim Jordan and Members of the House Judiciary Committee, calling on them to hold a hearing on SFLAction’s model legislation, the “Clean Water for All Life Act” (H.R. 7983), introduced by Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL).
The legislation, focused on preventing Chemical Abortion Pill water pollution from tainting waterways, would require abortion vendors to provide and properly dispose of biohazard catch kits for every person they give Chemical Abortion Pills or be held liable for waterway contamination.
“Even if you support abortion, that’s not an argument in favor of a de facto right to dump pathological medical waste, something hospitals and outpatient medical clinics are not allowed to do,” Hawkins said.
More than 50 tons of chemically tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains are flushed into waterways each year because of Chemical Abortion Pills, as calculated using data from the Planned Parenthood-founded Guttmacher Institute.
“Looking at the illegal Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking market and data from other countries, we believe it’s much higher,” Hawkins also wrote. “This creates risks to those who want crystal-clear drinking water, untainted by abortion water pollution.”
Water pollution from Chemical Abortion Pills contains active metabolites that block progesterone, the hormone necessary to get and stay pregnant, alongside other health needs for all humanity. This raises concerns about how Chemical Abortion Pill water pollution could be contributing to the United States’ infertility crisis and historically low birth rates. Hawkins noted that this poses risks not only to people but also to endangered species that rely on contaminated water sources.
“In this unique moment, before the next election, the GOP in the U.S. House majority has the opportunity to shed light on the consequences of Democratic Party politics on the abortion issue with a hearing that examines environmental concerns,” Hawkins said, citing recent success for SFLAction-supported primary candidates in South Carolina and Nevada.
“Students for Life has filed eight citizen petitions to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), detailing such concerns, including impacts on endangered species exposed to this pollution. There is a broad scientific framework for this.
“This is, fundamentally, a bill that says abortion vendors should follow the law required of those providing real, life-affirming medical care. It also makes clear that abortion water pollution is unacceptable to those who want safe drinking water.”

Students for Life of America (SFLA) is also engaged in a campaign asking the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to track mifepristone in the water, given the tons of abortion water pollution to which Americans are exposed each year. This effort was recently supported by 14 state attorneys general, who asked the EPA to develop monitoring.
