WASHINGTON DC (4-22-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins wrote a letter on behalf of Student for Life of Action’s (SFLA) more than1,400 student groups and more than 200,000 trained activists across the United States praising Sen. Tuberville’s recently introduced bill, the VA Abortion Transparency Act of 2024.
“SFLAction applauds Sen. Tuberville for introducing a measure demanding that the Department of Veterans Affairs account for their abortion support,” wrote SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins. “Sen. Tuberville has long been a stalwart pro-life champion, fighting against the increasing politicization and remaking of the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs into yet another pro-abortion proxy for Joe Biden’s administration. We’re grateful for his leadership on this issue, forcing the government to show the taxpayers exactly how their resources are misused to end the families of those in the military, rather than support them. We call upon other Members of Congress to co-sponsor and support this critical legislation, and we call upon the Biden administration to follow the laws of this country.”
Sen. Tuberville’s noted in an interview with Fox News that his introduction of VA Abortion Transparency Act of 2024 is based upon the rules from the Veterans Health Care Act of 1992, which, according to the article, “clearly prohibits the VA from providing abortion services of any kind.” Yet, the VA reported in October 2023 that in the previous year the VA facilitated 88 abortions.
