“Every parent knows that it’s a labor of love and a worthy sacrifice to raise up young children,” said Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins. “The up to $2,000 proposed Child Tax Credit increase doesn’t set up a family for a life of leisure. Instead, it helps cover basic needs, like diapers and childcare. Especially in this Post-Roe America, we have a moral obligation to welcome in life and protect in law our next generation.”

Students for Life Action will give “Extra Credit” on our score card this year, for supporting the CTCC, with plans to fully score in future sessions.

WASHINGTON D.C. (01-31-2024) – As a vote is expected tonight in the House on H.R. 7024 Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins called on members to “welcome the least of these with practical assistance.” She continued, “Basic necessities like diapers can cost about $900 year and formula about $1,800 a year, which is why an up to $2,000 Child Tax Credit is just enough to help with a new parent’s needs. Students for Life Action is proud to be a part of a pro-family, pro-life coalition that’s asking Congress to prioritize practical help for young families.”

In a statement on the bill, House Speaker Mike Johnson noted, “The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act is important bipartisan legislation to revive conservative pro-growth tax reform.”

The Youth Vote is strongly in support of help for families, as Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement/YouGov poll found again this year. More than 6 in 10 supported Child Tax Credits for young families.

In light of such strong support, SFLAction joined the following coalition letter, sent today to members. It read as follows:
