Sen. Chapman’s Pro-Life Leadership in the Legislature included Championing our “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-30-2026) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins announced SFLAction’s endorsement of West Virginia Sen. Laura Chapman, an SFLAction ally, in her bid for reelection in WV State Senate District 1. “On behalf of Students for Life, I am honored to thank Laura Chapman for her unwavering defense of Life and to endorse her in her reelection bid for WV State Senate District 1,” Hawkins said. “Unlike many who claim to be pro-life in the Mountaineer State, Chapman doesn’t fold when the chips are down. It doesn’t matter whether she authored the bill or not, Chapman will fight tooth and nail to pass legislation that defends Life.”
This session, Chapman held the line in vehemently defending SFLAction’s “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” in the state Senate Judiciary Committee against exceptions other senators tried to add to the bill. Chapman fought behind the scenes in the state Senate and House in a valiant effort to stop the bill from being killed and, ultimately, helped to pass the bill in the Senate.
She pledged votes to stop taxpayer-funded abortion, criminalize Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking, protect Life from conception, and support mothers who all too often become the secondary victims of the abortion industry. For this, she received a 100% pro-life rating on SFLAction’s survey.
Chapman also sponsored legislation aimed at making childcare more affordable and higher quality (SB468), expanding Medicaid to cover postpartum care for mothers and children up to the age of two (SB505), creating a Caregiver Tax Credit (SB465), and more to show that her pro-life views encompass support for families and respect for all Life from conception to natural death.
“Chapman is a rare pro-life leader who puts principles over politics,” observed Hawkins. “Despite WV Senate leadership funneling massive amounts of money into her opponent’s race & others to unseat true conservatives, Chapman refuses to back down. While leadership tries to buy a more ‘flexible’ Senate, Kimble’s voting record proves she is the unwavering advocate West Virginians deserve.”
