STUDENTS FOR LIFE ACTION MOBILIZES IN MULTIPLE STATES TO URGE KEY MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO SIGN DISCHARGE PETITION FOR BORN-ALIVE ABORTION SURVIVORS PROTECTION ACT

“Children survive abortion attempts on their lives,” said SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins. “It is long past time for Congress to protect these children from infanticide. A successful discharge petition is needed to overcome the corruption of Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat Party, who have not allowed these protective measures to see the light of day.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (04-13-2021) – TODAY, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) will mobilize in multiple states to urge key Members of Congress to sign a discharge petition that would facilitate a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The petition requires 218 signatures to be successful — and SFLAction’s mobilization is aimed at securing the signatures needed.

“There should be bipartisan consensus around condemning infanticide,” said Kristan Hawkins, President of SFLAction. “SFLAction will be scoring whether or not Members of Congress sign the discharge petition to break the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act out of Nancy Pelosi’s legislative jail. Protecting children from infanticide is not up for debate.”

According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, approximately 12,000 abortions are carried out on children who have achieved the gestational benchmark of viability. Children born late in pregnancy during a botched abortion may be able to survive and thrive if given a chance. There are documented examples of this occurring, and some survivors, including Melissa Ohden, Gianna Jessen, Claire Culwell, and Josiah Pressley, have publicly shared their stories.

Grassroots mobilizations will take place at the offices of:
