Purchasing and committing a chemical abortion is one matter, but unknowingly drinking your morning tap water and ingesting your neighbor’s deadly chemical abortion is another. Alarmed by abortion pill pollution in our waterways, Montana is leading the charge for life by introducing legislation that strives to make water clean again.
Students for Life of America (SFLA) team members testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday on a historic piece of legislation, SB 479, the ”Clean Water For All Act” in Montana. This bill is a tremendous leap in protecting every American from polluted drinking water from dumping innocent preborn children in the toilet and the Chemical Abortion Pills:
In an exhilarating turn of events, the SFLA-inspired legislation “The Clean Water For All Act” passed by a 5-3 vote out of the Senate Judiciary Committee where it will go to the Senate floor next.
As we recently reported this type of legislation “..demands that abortion vendors take steps to protect all Montanans and the environment from the pathological medical waste of Chemical Abortion Pills – chemically-tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains flushed away,” in Montana.
Students for Life Pacific Northwest Regional Coordinator, Madeline Bowler, testified about this novel legislation, the “Clean Water For All Act” saying,
“Chemical Abortion Pills, though 4x more dangerous than surgical abortion and 10 times more likely to cause death, are now used to commit more than six in 10 abortions. During COVID, the previous Administration’s FDA signed off on abortion by mail” (emphasis added).
“Today, the chemically tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains from most abortions go into America’s waterways, rather than being properly handled as pathological medical waste.
The impact of this medical waste dumping has not been studied in the U.S. despite five citizen petitions filed by my organization, and despite other countries reporting problems from the impacts of these pills in the water. The FDA has failed five times to show that endangered species have not been harmed by these pills. We must raise the question – is it in the best interest of the public to have these chemicals in our waterways before we know the health risks? Regardless of your views on abortion, you don’t need to be pro-life (M. added in- missing from the script) to support this anti-pill pollution water bill (added). In fact, 9 in 10 registered voters from Gen Z and Y supported Red Bag medical waste disposal measures, accomplished by section 2 of this bill.”
“Section 2 of this bill also works to protect women by assessing the potential health risk of undergoing this procedure. Section three also makes the provider responsible for the disposal of this waste, as well as mitigating the environmental effects of these chemicals entering the public waste systems. This bill seeks to protect the state and its citizens by attempting to decrease the levels of mifepristone in our water. I urge you as the legislators of this great state to support these reasonable measures. We must protect our fellow citizens and our environment.”
Additionally, Kristi Hamrick, the Vice President of Media & Policy at Students for Life Action (SFLAction), testified on behalf of this bill.
In the weeks to come, SFLAction anticipates more pro-life states following Montana as the Pro-Life Generation (PLG) continues to expose the harms of Chemical Abortion Pills to our environment. SFLAction-inspired “Clean Water For All Life Act”, SB 479 will protect clean drinking water by prohibiting human blood, placenta tissue, and human remains to be flushed into waterways during chemical abortions

Exposing environmental concerns resulting from Chemical Abortion Pills is a battle that SFLAction and our sister organization, SFLA, have been fighting for quite some time, not just in Montana:
- SFLAction submitted a letter to Congress, alongside forty other pro-life leaders, to demand the EPA conduct regular and comprehensive environmental testing of PFAs just like any other “forever chemical.”
- We also submitted a legal analysis to the EPA with detailed reasons to track Chemical Abortion Pills.
- SFLAction filed an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court for the S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.
- In multiple states, SFLAction has lobbied to introduce and ensure passage of laws that would protect the environment from pollutants in Chemical Abortion Pills.
- Additionally, we submitted four petitions to the FDA demanding they:
- Add Red Bag Medical Waste requirements to reduce Chemical Abortion Pill pollution.
- Restore high health and safety standards (known as REMS – Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies) to protect women’s lives.
- Comply with the Clean Water Act by requiring protection for water, especially recreational water.
- And now, halt the relabeling of Chemical Abortion Pills.
We report: The most prominent method of abortion in America is Chemical Abortion Pills, used to commit more than six in 10 abortions, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute. Beyond the millions of preborn babies who will be lost to these drugs, millions of women are currently exposed to injury, infertility, death, and abusers.
Additionally, these drugs contain dangerous endocrine disruptors, which are making their way into America’s waterways through human remains, despite EPA warnings not to flush drugs, chemicals, and even goldfish. Hospitals dispose of placentas carefully as medical waste, and brick-and-mortar abortion vendors are supposed to follow state laws with human remains.
By driving forward the “Clean Water for All Act,” Montana pro-life legislators set the stage for other states to follow suit in the fight against abortion water pollution.
