Students for Life of America’s Kristi Hamrick to Testify in Texas on Bills That Would Prohibit Dangerous Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking
Hamrick Will Hammer Home the Importance of Counteracting the Reckless, Ruthless Biden-Harris Administration Policies
“When getting paid to end innocent life in the womb makes you money, women’s survival and abortion-polluted water represent mere speed bumps to a payday. But Texas’ legislators have the chance this week to take a stand and to stop Chemical Abortion Pill traffickers from destroying lives and the environment,” said Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins.

AUSTIN, TX (04-25-2025) – Kristi Hamrick, Vice President of Media & Policy for Students for Life of America (SFLA) and Students for Life Action (SFLAction), will testify at the Texas state capital Friday in support of Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking bills. The pair of bills, TX House Bill 5510 and TX Senate Bill 2880, known as the Women and Child Protection Act, would prohibit Online, No Test Chemical Abortion Pill Traffickers from distributing Chemical Abortion Pills in Texas if enacted. It would also allow civil action against those who engage in pill trafficking.
Earlier this week, State Sen. Bryan Hughes successfully achieved a 10-1 vote to get the Women and Child Protection Act passed out of a Texas Senate committee, now headed to the Texas State Senate for a vote. A hearing in the House is next.
Texas leads a growing surge of states considering action to counter the adverse effects of Chemical Abortion Pills on preborn babies, their mothers, and our environment. SFLA has spearheaded the growing concern over these damaging effects, effects such as infertility and injury for women, the empowerment of sex abusers, the flushing of medical waste into America’s drinking water, and, of course, the horrific deaths of preborn children.
The abortion pill situation worsened under the Biden-Harris administration and its Online, No Test Distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills set up during COVID yet still active to this day. Abortion vendors have utilized the policy to act against state laws by shuttling the dangerous drugs even into pro-life states.
In her testimony before Texas legislators, Hamrick observes, “The model established by the Biden-Harris Administration during COVID is a godsend to abortionists, now able to ship pills to homes, dorms, and businesses, bypassing any health and safety precautions, mandatory reporting for sex traffickers and abusers, and environmental protections.”
Hamrick goes on to outline the terrible effects of heedless policies that allow the free flow of these pills, with little or no regulation. “Chemical Abortion Pills expose women to injury, infertility, and death, through the reckless policies set up by three Democratic Party Administrations. The reckless model empowers abusers, who can give the deadly pills without women’s knowledge or consent, as was illustrate here in Texas, when state Sen. Thomas Pressly’s sister Catherine Herring of Houston was exposed to the drugs, according to court records.”
In addition to playing into the hands of abusers, the Chemical Abortion Pills also facilitate the pollution of our water supply. The end result of at-home, DIY Chemical Abortion Pills is chemically tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains entering the water supply. As Hamrick puts it, “Let’s be clear: we are all drinking people’s abortions. You don’t have to be pro-life to oppose dumping pathological medical waste into the drinking water. You don’t have to be pro-life to protect women from sex traffickers. You don’t have to be pro-life to care that progesterone blockers [found in the pills] in our waterways may be a factor in infertility.”
Unsurprisingly, a growing number of young voters support measures taken to protect lives, women’s fertility, and the environment.
