As the contenders for the Republican nomination continue in their attempts to distinguish themselves from the pack, the Pro-Life Generation has a simple message for them and the Republican Party in general: Be ambitious for life. If you want our support and our vote, we expect great things from you on protecting preborn children and their families — so what can you bring to the table?
WORLD Magazine recently captured this sentiment in a profile piece which featured Students for Life of America (SFLA) and Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins with the aptly written subtitle “Abortion Platforms Could Make or Break Candidates’ Campaigns.” The article begins with a nod to the upcoming national pro-life march in our country’s capital, reading:
“Students for Life of America is heading into next week’s March for Life rally in Washington, D.C., with a message for Republicans: We vote pro-life first.

“We have to hold Republicans accountable. We have to tell them we want more,” Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins said. “Abortion is still happening. … Mothers still feel like they have to choose to pay someone to end the life of their child.” In the first presidential election year since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, more pro-life students are taking political action to support protections for unborn babies, Hawkins said.”
Following the March, hundreds of these pro-life students will be gathering together the next day at the National Pro-Life Summit (hosted by SFLA and other event co-sponsors) to be further trained and strengthened as pro-life activists, with a particular focus on the upcoming 2024 presidential election. From middle school to those in post-graduate medical/legal programs, students will learn to be the foot soldiers of the pro-life movement under the direction of more than forty expert speakers (and there are several exciting leaders which have yet to be announced).
WORLD noted that SFLA’s advocacy with Millennials and Gen Z doesn’t happen merely in Washington D.C. on this one day; instead, such training of the next generation of pro-lifers is our daily bread and butter across the nation. The article continued:
“Students for Life of America president Kristan Hawkins also visited college campuses with Students for Life Action to rally young voters. She said, from her perspective, more women among America’s most unchurched generation verbally acknowledge that unborn babies are human beings but still approve of killing them. Hawkins is still excited by all the motivated, young pro-lifers of many religious, ethnic, and political backgrounds uniting to encourage their presidential candidates to stand for life.”
This is one of the strengths of the Pro-Life Generation. Despite our differences — making us a diverse, big-tent movement — we are all united by one goal and passion for the protection of life. This means instead of bending to the whims of a political party, we can stand firm behind our principles. Hawkins explained this to WORLD, saying:
“We’re leading a human rights movement, not an arm of the Republican Party. We’re not going to be satisfied until this horrific thing is a thing of the past and our culture has changed to embrace mothers and families.”
