This week, Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins appeared on Steve Bannon’s War Room to discuss with host Natalie Winters how the youth vote is going to impact 2024, and why abortion isn’t the political slam dunk that Democrats think it is.

Excerpts from the nearly 12-minute live interview are below.

“I think the party that talks about abortion and goes on the offensive, will be the party that wins. Our Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement – our polling and research arm at Students for Life – just released results, before the pro-life march, of our fifth annual youth and abortion poll. And it wasn’t shocking for those of us having these conversations… but maybe it was shocking for some of our friends in the Conserative movement.

“The results found that 65% of this very liberal, least church attending block in our voting demographic, what some limits on abortion. Now the pro-abortion groups are gonna take that and go “look, 65% want abortion!” But that’s not exactly what they’re saying – they will tolerate abortion, but they want to see limits.

“Well, that right there tells you that they’re out of touch with Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the entire Democratic Party. In fact, less than 1 in 10 young people that we polled, the majority of whom are Democrat and Independent – less than 1 in 10 actually lined up with the DNC’s platform on abortion: abortion all nine months, and taxpayer funded…

“…so we can win when talking about abortion. The key for Republicans and Conservatives is going to be, are you willing to talk about abortion? Do not listen to these tired, inside the beltway consultants who have said for decades to stick our heads in the sand on abortion.”

The polling data from the Students for Life of America (SFLA) & the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement (IPA) also showcased that 55% said that abortion ranked among their top 3 issues, and that over one third would be willing to accept stronger pro-life laws if more resources were provided for pregnant mothers. Additionally, the Youth Vote, by 37%, did not want abortion legal through all 9 months of pregnancy with no limits; 36% supported parents/guardians being involved in a minor’s abortion decision; 24% opposed taxpayer funding; and 21% did not want state legislators to lose their ability to pass laws that relate to abortion.
