SCORING ALERT: In Letter to the Hill, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) Pledges to Score Legislators in Upcoming Historic Votes on Budget Bill with Language to Defund Planned Parenthood
From the letter: “Students for Life Action (SFLAction), on behalf of our more than 1,550 student groups and more than 225,000 trained activists operating in all 50 states, calls on Members of the House and Senate to continue the work from the House Energy & Commerce Committee to end forced taxpayer funding of abortion. The misappropriation of taxpayer dollars to abortion goliath Planned Parenthood and their friends in Big Abortion represents a critical abuse of scarce resources.”
Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins sent a powerful letter to Members of the U.S. House and Senate today, urging them to preserve the language to defund Planned Parenthood currently included in the base text of the budget bill as it emerged from the House Energy & Commerce Committee.
The letter also informed the Hill that the upcoming votes in both the House & Senate will be scored by SFLAction on our Pro-Life Generation Report Card, our version of a legislative scorecard, and those scores will be shared with our activists in all 50 states and throughout the pro-life community.
“We implore you not to let this historic initiative to defund Planned Parenthood and all abortion vendors fail now,” Hawkins wrote in the letter. “The choice is yours, and we ask that you choose to advance the current bill language all the way to President Trump’s desk for signature. But know that the American people made their choice when they rejected the most pro-abortion ticket in American history to ask you in the GOP and President Trump to lead on Life.”
The letter comes after Planned Parenthood’s annual report revealed the abortion-obsessed organization is receiving more taxpayer funding than ever, totaling 39% of their overall budget, while committing more abortions than ever.

Dear Members of the U.S. House and Senate,
Students for Life Action (SFLAction), on behalf of our more than 1,550 student groups and more than 225,000 trained activists operating in all 50 states, calls on members in both the House and Senate to continue the work from the House Energy & Commerce Committee to end forced taxpayer funding of abortion. The misappropriation of taxpayer dollars to abortion goliath Planned Parenthood and their friends in Big Abortion represents a critical abuse of scarce resources. SFLAction will score this important work, and we note that the Pro-Life Generation Report Card scores not just votes but also vision, including sponsorship of key legislation.
The Pro-Life Generation celebrates a milestone as the U.S. House Energy & Commerce budget bill includes defunding Planned Parenthood and all abortion vendors for 10 years in the base text, directing healthcare investment for families toward those who protect and promote health rather than end it for profit.
This good news comes as horrified voters learned that Planned Parenthood got a 13% pay raise from taxpayers last year, raking in more than $790 million as they ended more than 402,000 young lives, according to their newly released annual report. This waste can end now. The fact that the plan includes ending the forced funding of abortion for 10 years, rather than one year, also represents a huge win for this part of the budget reconciliation process. Students for Life Action thanks Chairman Brett Guthrie, the GOP committee members, and U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson for fighting to protect the least of these.
But the fight continues.
We call on the U.S. House to advance this bill to a floor & vote to pass the bill as written, and we call on the U.S. Senate to incorporate this vital language into their base text bill, to get a “Big, Beautiful, Pro-Life Bill” on President Trump’s desk as soon as possible.
We ask that you vote YES on the reconciliation package, which would defund Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry of our taxpayer dollars. We reserve the right to record your vote on our scorecard that will be shared with our activists in all 50 states and the pro-life community. It’s time to end the forced taxpayer funding of abortion.
President Trump has emphasized that he wants minimal federal involvement in abortion. If that’s the case, then the federal government should immediately stop funding it. Loyal voters had a choice to pick a radical abortion agenda in the 2024 election and instead chose the Trump administration to lead on Life. We’re asking you to honor the clear mandate of the American people and the wishes of the President.
Contrary to the lies of Big Abortion and their lobbyists, the elimination of federal funding for Planned Parenthood—which committed more than 402,000 abortions this year according to their annual report—will not leave Americans without healthcare. On the contrary, it will direct them to far more reputable healthcare services available everywhere. Thousands of federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and pregnancy resources centers are already in place.
As I’ve previously explained, “We can Make America Healthy Again by ensuring those healthcare dollars continue to stay with women and families who need them and can get to one of the already 1,400 federally-qualified, high quality health care centers who operate 19,000 service sites, who aren’t lobby agencies, who provide fully comprehensive healthcare services, and who understand that when a pregnant woman walks in their doors, they have two patients to treat.”
Exposing women and preborn children to Planned Parenthood isn’t compassionate—it’s cruelty. This highly-suspect organization, with roots in the eugenics movement, has been accused of crimes such as:
· Illegal trafficking of baby body parts
· Medicare/Medicaid fraud
· Failing to follow health and safety standards
· Failure to report sex crimes
As if that’s not bad enough, Planned Parenthood is now the number one vendor of cross-sex hormones to young people, making them responsible for the ruining of countless lives via the madness of radical transgender ideology—an ideology that about two thirds of Americans disagree with, according to a recent poll from Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Moreover, the poll found that about two-thirds of U.S. adults oppose government insurance programs like Medicare or Medicaid covering so-called “gender-affirming care,” such as hormone therapy–which is precisely what Planned Parenthood is doing.
It’s not just voters voicing opposition, either. The American College of Pediatricians has come out firmly against cross-sex hormonal “therapy” and its devastating health effects—such as osteoporosis, seizures, cognitive impairment, heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, and sterility—which were detailed in a recent U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) report.
Enough is enough. Let the butchering, maiming, and sterilizing end—or at least, don’t make the American taxpayer fund it.
This is the moment of truth.
