Students for Life Action & Texas Right to Life Ask Gov. Greg Abbott to Call the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” Up in a Special Session

In a letter sent Monday, Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins & Texas Right to Life President Dr. John Seago wrote: “Gov. Abbott, as a pro-life leader, we ask you to stand with the least of these and demand that legislators return to Austin to finish the course and keep faith with their voters by passing Senate Bill 2880.”

AUSTIN, TX (06-16-2025) – As the Texas legislative session ended without finishing the work to pass an innovative “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act,” pro-life demands for a special session began. Today, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins & Texas Right to Life (TRTL)President Dr. John Seago sent a letter to Gov. Greg Abbott, asking that he call up Senate Bill 2880 by name in a special legislative session.

Both organizations engaged in significant groundwork to support a bill to address illegal pill traffickers, shipping deadly Chemical Abortion Pills into Texas.

The letter reads as follows:

Dear Gov. Abbott,

You have the unique opportunity to right a wrong in this legislative session in which a bill that could save the lives of children in the womb in essence died in committee because of a chairman’s neglect, while a bill that creates the opportunity of a statue honoring mother and child came to life. The tribute is well deserved, but to truly protect that special bond, we need a special session of the Texas legislature.

To ensure that more women are protected from deadly Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) along with the undersigned, ask you to call SB 2880 up for a special session so that a floor vote on the life-saving measure can proceed.

Right now, Chemical Abortion Pill pushers make a profit as a friend of sex abusers, without any concern for what happens to the women who take the deadly pills, as we saw here in Texas as a mother suffered at the hands of her husband.  TX Senate Bill 2880, known as the Women and Child Protection Act, represents a real deterrent to those who think they can avoid consequences for their deadly pill pushing.

Chemical Abortion Pills expose women to injury, infertility, and even death. Abusers and pill pushers love the quick, easy, anonymous sale. But paying the ultimate price are preborn babies, hurting women, and everyone who values clean drinking water.

This reckless pill pushing – championed by out-of-state abortionists from California and New York and even worldwide – result in chemically tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains in our waterways. Student for Life of America (SFLA) has uniquely highlighted those risks in multiple citizen petitions to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in legal briefs, and even in testimony before the Texas State House Sessions Committee where the bill stalled.

The destruction caused by Chemical Abortion Pills adds up to lost lives, lost hopes, and lost resources.

But protecting Life is an investment in Texas’ future.

Gov. Abbott, as a pro-life leader, we ask you to stand with the least of these and demand that legislators return to Austin to finish the course and keep faith with their voters by passing Senate Bill 2880.
