Delegate White and Sen. Rucker took SFLAction student lobbyists to officially file the “Mother & Child Protection Act” aiming to stop illegal Chemical Abortion Pills trafficking into the state

Students for Life Action (SFLAction) student lobbyists canvassed the West Virginia state capitol Wednesday to support pro-life legislation, including the SFLAction-inspired “Mother and Child Protection Act” sponsored by SFLAction champion Delegate Lisa White in the House & co-sponsored by SFLAction champion Sen. Patricia Puertas Rucker in the Senate. Delegate White and Sen. Rucker brought SFLAAction student lobbyists with them to officially file the bills.

As previously reported by SFLAction, the “Mother and Child Protection Act” would take vital steps in reinforcing West Virginia’s total limit of nearly all intentional abortion against Chemical Abortion Pill traffickers, in and out of the state.

SFLAction is proud to be working with Sen. Rucker and Delegate White to bring this essential protection of women and children to West Virginia!

  • The “Mother and Child Protection Act” reinforces West Virginia law by aiming to stop the illegal inflow of Chemical Abortion Pills used in violation of the state’s near total illegalization of abortions.

  • Chemical Abortion Pill vendors face felony charges, whether they operate from within or outside West Virginia.

  • The harmful impact of abortion on mothers, fathers, and family members is acknowledged, as they are enabled to take civil action against abortionists.

Bill Breakdown:

  • The “Mother and Child Protection Act” would illegalize the prescription and shipment of Chemical Abortion Pills into West Virginia by out-of-state Chemical Abortion Pill vendors.

  • Chemical Abortion vendors would be held criminally liable and face felony charges punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine of up to $100,000. Mothers would not be criminalized.

  • Civil action of up to $10,000, plus recovery of court costs and attorney’s fees, could be taken against the Chemical Abortion Pill vendor by the mother, father, and family member of a child killed in a Chemical Abortion. Civil actions could not be brought by convicted abusers, traffickers, and rapists.

Who’s Sponsoring the “Mother and Child Protection Act”:

SFLAction champion Delegate Lisa White, District 096 (R) is sponsoring the bill in the House, and SFLAction champion Sen. Patricia Puertas Rucker, District 16 (R) is co-sponsoring the bill in the Senate.

What We’re Watching:

Momentum is growing behind Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking legislation (South Carolina and Wisconsin have both introduced legislation, and Texas passed a law last session), and we expect more states to follow suit. Also in West Virginia, SFLAction student lobbyists joined Sen. Chris Rose, District 2 (R) as he signed another SFLAction-inspired Anti Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act, SB173, to officially file it. This bill is similar to the “Mother and Child Protection Act,” but removes the legal cap for what a family member can be awarded when bringing civil charges against a Chemical Abortionist.

SFLAction will continue the fight in West Virginia and beyond to hold Chemical Abortionists criminally and civilly liable, working to protect Life in Law and in Service.
