“All the wrong people love Chemical Abortion Pills. A reckless Chemical Abortion Pill-pushing policy exposes mothers to abusers, who use the deadly drugs against them without their knowledge or consent. This also supersizes the risk of injury, infertility, and even death for mothers taking Chemical Abortion Pills, all alone and without help. Add to that the environmental harms from chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue, along with human remains, all flushed into Mississippi’s waterways, and we have a perfect storm of disaster,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “This bill will target the new abortion cartels that are operating in the Magnolia state and pocketing money made from human tragedy.”

JACKSON MS. (02–23-2026) — Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins urged Mississippi senators to push House Bill 1613 (HB1613) forward to committee for a hearing and to the Senate floor for a roll call vote as soon as possible. The legislation would impose criminal and civil penalties on Chemical Abortion Pill vendors. In an effort to keep the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” alive, Rep. Dan Eubanks (R), who sponsored the bill, amended HB1613 to include language inspired by the SFLAction’s “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act.” Representatives passed HB1613 with the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” amendment by a vote of 77 to 39.
“Innovation at the state level proves that elections matter, and we applaud the Mississippi legislators who prioritized protecting women from abusers and injury and ask the state senate to do the same,” said Hawkins.
SFLAction was heavily involved in the introduction and support of the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act,” introduced and added to HB1613 by Rep. Dan Eubanks (R).
An overwhelming majority of 94% of youth voters said a federal review of Chemical Abortion Pill policy was important in a January 2026 Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement poll conducted and released by Survey USA. Abortion Water Pollution testing also had 94% support. And half of youth voters said they would support in-person dispensing requirements for Chemical Abortion Pills to protect women from abuse, with only 27% opposing in-person dispensing requirements.
If passed, here’s what the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” will do in Mississippi:
- Prohibit mailing, shipping, or prescribing abortifacients, including out-of-state sources.
- Enforce damages of $10,000 for each abortion that the person or entity knowingly and willfully performed or attempted to perform.
- Reinforce state sovereignty over medical regulation.
- Provide remedies including injunctive relief in damages per violation with no legal cap on rewards received and recovery of court costs and attorney’s fees. The bill excludes convicted abusers, traffickers, and rapists from bringing such civil actions.
- Allow civil actions to be filed up to three years after the cause of action or one year after any legal stay is lifted.
SFLAction is encouraging pro-life students and volunteers to join us in calling on MS Senate leadership to push the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” forward for a vote and for senators to vote YES on the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act.”
SFLAction has been extremely active in legislative sessions throughout the past several years, educating voters and engaging lawmakers. During the Spring 2025 legislative session in states across America, SFLAction:
- Tracked and monitored over 1,100 abortion-related bills
- Drove efforts on 25 pro-life and pro-abortion bills across 16 states
- Introduced 20 SFLAction-inspired bills
- Testified in committees in five states: Arkansas, Maine, Montana, Texas, and West Virginia
- Visited offices of more than 100 state AND federal lawmakers
- Equipped more than 6,000 student leaders to engage in visiting more than 100,000 homes in 27 states and urge voters to tell their lawmakers to support pro-life legislation
- Engaged with hundreds of millions of constituents around the country
- Sent over 2,300,000+ personal text messages in support of pro-life bills
- Made 750,000+ phone calls to pro-life constituents

SFLAction supported the pro-life vote for the “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act” as part of the broader Make America Pro-Life Again Roadmap launched in November 2024, a legal and legislative strategy to take down abortion at the state and federal level, built upon the Gonzales v. Carhart case.
