Students for Life Action Praises Oklahoma Senators’ Decision to Choose Life for Both Preborn Babies & Mothers

“All the wrong people love online Chemical Abortion Pill pushing, thanks to the Biden Administration’s reckless decision to suppress the Comstock Act and drop all common-sense regulations on mifepristone.  For years, abusers have been able to skirt Oklahoma’s pro-life laws by shipping illegal Chemical Abortion Pills into the state, harming thousands of women and preborn children,” said Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins. “The Oklahoma legislature has decided to stand up for Life and put an end to illegal pill trafficking in the state. Now, Governor Kevin Stitt must sign this bill into law and other pro-life states must follow. Further, the Trump Department of Justice must respect the laws of our states and enforce the Comstock Act.”

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA (04-30-2026) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins praised the Oklahoma Senate’s move to pass HB 1168, the SFLAction model legislation “Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Act,” which seeks to stop deadly Chemical Abortion Pills traffickers from pushing death by mail.

The landmark bill passed Oklahoma’s State Senate 37-10, having previously passed the state’s House of Representatives by a vote of 77-19 in Spring 2025. The bill now goes to Governor Kevin Stitt’s desk for signature. If signed, Oklahoma would become just the first state to pass this version of the law, and the first to enact criminal penalties for those exploiting women by illegally trafficking pills.

“Oklahoma’s legislators have shown they care about protecting women and children,” said Hawkins. “But far too many other states have failed to do the same. No more. Students for Life Action will be scoring votes on Anti-Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking Bills across the country, forcing legislators to either take a stand or prove that they don’t actually care about protecting women. This bill illustrates the need for the Trump Administration’s Department of Justice to enforce the Comstock Act, a federal law that prohibits mailing the deadly pills.”
