Students for Life Action Condemns Missouri Senate Bill 1692, which would Strike All State’s Abortion Limit Laws
“We’re not playing games with pro-abortion politicians’ intent on killing preborn children. Missouri Senate leadership needs to stop this bill in its tracks to protect the state’s most vulnerable population in anticipation of this year’s Amendment 3 passing,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “Missouri voters have seen the horrors of the 2024 Amendment 3 that legalized second trimester abortion and are building momentum to reverse the terrible amendment. Moving to preemptively strike pro-life laws from the books purposefully undermines votes to limit abortion and displays the fear instilled in pro-abortion activists by the power of the pro-life movement.”
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (05-01-2026) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins condemned the introduction and committee referral of Missouri State Senate Bill 1692 (SB1692), sponsored by Sen. Patty Lewis (D). If signed into law, SB1692 would strike all abortion limit laws currently on the books in Missouri so that legislators would have to repass any limits again in future sessions. A 2024 ballot amendment codified abortion into law in Missouri, but the Amendment 3 ballot initiative, which will be voted on later this year, could overturn the 2024 amendment and reinstate all abortion limit laws in the state. Supporters of SB1692 are trying to strike pro-life laws from the books in case the Amendment 3 initiative passes.
“The momentum is on our side, and this egregious attempt to continue killing babies regardless of this year’s Amendment 3 passing shows that for the Democrats, it was always about abortion, not ‘choice.’” said Hawkins.
SFLAction is calling on legislators to not move Senate Bill 1692 forward in committee nor on the floor to protect the preborn children and women of Missouri.
According to a January 2026 Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement poll released and conducted by Survey USA, the Youth Vote, which makes upnearly half of the electorate, broadly supports limits on abortion at a rate of nearly 7 in 10. Fewer than 1 in 10 support the Democrat Party’s abortion stance of abortion through all nine months, up to and including infanticide. Plus, according to a February Cygnal poll, Republican voters want action on pro-life legislation, too, with 32% stating they are less likely to vote in the upcoming midterms if they feel the GOP is not addressing abortion.
SFLAction is encouraging Missouri voters to join the fight by telling their Representatives to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 1692.
