WATCH: SFLA President Kristan Hawkins discusses the need for Comstock Enforcement in a Social Media Event, Prior to DOJ Meeting
After the meeting, Hawkins observed:
“It was good news that the Department of Justice is aware of their authority to enforce the Comstock Act, and that they’ve been looking into it. Former U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi failed to execute the law to protect the sovereignty of free-to-be-born states from free-to-kill states, which celebrate lives lost. We are asking the Trump Administration to end blatant violations of the law just as obvious as illegal border crossings. The failure to do so allows criminal operations to reach from overseas and Blue States into pro-life, Red States, permitting a life-and-death threat to innocent Americans in the womb.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (05-06-2026) – Students for Life of America (SFLA) President Kristan Hawkins called for the Comstock Act to be enforced in a social media event, right before delivering thousands of petitions to the Department of Justice (DOJ). SFLA collected nearly 13,000 petitions so far in support of enforcing the Comstock Act, an active law that prevents the mailing of materials related to abortion, including Chemical Abortion Pills. Pro-abortion states continue to violate the life-affirming laws of pro-life states through Chemical Abortion Pill Trafficking into states through the mail. The petition delivery is part of on-going advocacy, asking the Trump Administration to be just as diligent in enforcing the law to stop illegal Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking as they have been in addressing other drug trafficking and border violations. The delivery was part of a scheduled, private meeting at the DOJ.

In a social media event, Hawkins was joined by Care Net’s Vincent DiCaro, Chief Outreach Officer, who talked about the horrifying experiences of women through all of the United States and Canada when it comes to Chemical Abortion Pill exposure. Women and girls, by the thousands, are reaching out to call centers asking about the dangers of the pills and the pain and suffering they experience after taking Chemical Abortion Pills.
“Unregulated, widespread access to abortion pills carries a very real human cost,” said DiCaro. “Thousands of women are experiencing serious physical and emotional harm from these dangerous drugs, which are shipped across state lines with no accountability for those who sell them. Enforcing the Comstock Act would immediately reduce these unacceptable risks to women’s health and prevent the deaths of innocent unborn babies.”

“The Trump Administration has repeatedly stalled in addressing the Biden FDA’s reckless removal of life-saving health and safety standards for Chemical Abortion Pills and has ignored the EPA’s failure to conduct environmental testing on mifepristone,” said Hawkins. “Now, they are permitting an illegal memo published by the Biden DOJ to stand, allowing abortion-pushing states to mail Chemical Abortion Pills into pro-life states in violation of their laws that protect women and children. The Comstock Act is supposed to prevent this, and it is time the Trump Administration enforces its own laws to protect preborn children and mothers.”
In 2022, the Biden Administration instructed the U.S. Postal Service to ignore the Comstock Act to facilitate the telehealth prescription and mailing of Chemical Abortion Pills. Since then, Blue states have used shield laws to prevent the prosecution of prescribers who knowingly ship Chemical Abortion Pills into states where they are not allowed.
Despite legal challenges against this obviously criminal practice, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito just allowed Chemical Abortion Pills to be sold anonymously online while the case continues forward.
Students for Life of America calls on the Supreme Court to correct this decision and for the Trump Administration to enforce the ComstockAct.
