The Democratic Governor of Massachusetts smiled surrounded by a crowd of cheering women as she signed a bill taking away all gestational limits on abortion in her state, allowing for abortion up to birth.

Bill H.2370, deceptively named “An Act Prioritizing Patient Access to Care,” would amend previous laws regulating abortion at or after 24 weeks. The bill would allow physicians to end the lives of preborn children after this time based on nothing but their “professional judgment.”
Previous laws restricted these late-term abortions to circumstances where it was deemed “necessary to preserve the life of the patient . . . the patient’s physical or mental health . . . because of a lethal fetal anomaly or diagnosis; or . . . because of a grave fetal diagnosis that indicates that the fetus is incompatible with sustained life outside the uterus without extraordinary medical interventions.”
Extreme abortion laws like this are highly unpopular among the American public. A January 2026 poll by Students for Life of America’s (SFLA) Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement found that fewer than 1 in 10 Gen Z and Millennial voters support abortion without limits. This data is further supported by a 2025 Gallup poll that found more than two-thirds of Americans want legal limits on abortion.
Despite how unpopular this law is with her constituents, Gov. Healey touted her extremist views on abortion during the signing.
“We believe that health care decisions should be made between women and families and their doctors, not politicians,” Healey said. “Abortion will remain safe. It will remain legal, and it will remain accessible here in Massachusetts. That’s my commitment to you.”
H.2370 will override the state’s former 24-week limit on abortion on November 8, 2026, or 90 days after the bill was signed.
Healey received many statements of support, including from representatives of Planned Parenthood.
“At a time when many states are banning abortion and endangering the lives of pregnant people, Massachusetts lawmakers are strengthening reproductive rights and access to compassionate care,” said Dominique Lee, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, “I’m grateful to Governor Healey for continuing to champion reproductive freedom and promptly signing this legislation, which makes Massachusetts the 10th state in the nation to fully trust patients and their doctors with medical decisions later in pregnancy.”
Other states with no gestational limits on abortion include Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont.
But abortion radicalism is not hindered by state borders. The news release from the governor’s office on the signing touted Healey’s efforts to prevent Massachusetts abortion vendors from rightful criminal prosecutions for trafficking abortion pills into states where they are banned, a common practice among Blue states.
“Since taking office, she has signed one of the nation’s strongest Shield Laws to protect patients and providers, safeguarded access to medication abortion and continued to ensure Massachusetts remains a national leader in protecting reproductive rights,” says the news release.
Healey and Planned Parenthood failed to address how this bill contradicts current Massachusetts state law granting personhood to preborn children. In February 2023, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that “personhood rights extend to a fetus that is killed as a result of the homicide of a pregnant person,” reported Bloomberg Law.
Bloomberg continued, “Even if someone doesn’t directly injure a fetus when they kill a pregnant person, they should be charged with two murder convictions rather than one, the Massachusetts court said.”
Furthermore, the Massachusetts House has a pending bill that would make fetal homicide its own law.
Healey and her pro-abortion radicals have become a state so disconnected from their constituents that people are leaving the commonwealth in droves. The governor’s office itself reported that “the State has seen an increasing trend of outmigration of long-time residents, particularly young adults, to other states.”
Instead of working to make the commonwealth more affordable and representative of the positions of young Bay Staters, Healey is focused on appealing to out-of-state abortion extremists and ending the lives of those she was meant to protect.
SFLAction has worked hard to hold politicians and abortion vendors accountable for their extreme, unpopular, and often criminal attempts to end as many preborn children’s lives as possible. Our work to expose and end the horrors of the abortion industry will not stop, no matter how many bills Democrats attempt to pass.
