Over the last year, Congress has introduced and debated many strong, strategic pro-life bills. Students for Life Action (SFLAction) has worked closely with incredible pro-life champions in Congress who are willing to stand up for preborn lives, even when it is not popular to do so.

Learn about the legislation SFLAction has officially endorsed in Congress this last year below.

“Safeguarding Women from Chemical Abortions Act” – By Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO)

This bill would completely revoke the FDA approval of mifepristone from 2001. This would put the FDA back to square one with chemical abortion.

“Clean Water for All Life Act” – By Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL)

This is an SFLAction bill that Rep. Mary Miller sponsored in Congress. This would not only require medical waste catch-kits to be provided for every dose of chemical abortion pills so we are not drinking other people’s abortion pills, but it would also reinstate REMS safety standards preventing telehealth prescription and mailing of chemical abortion pills, stopping death-by-mail chemical abortion pill trafficking.

“Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act” – By Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) & Sen. Young (R-IN)

This bill provides statutory authority for states to use Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds for pregnancy centers that support protecting the life of the mother and the preborn child.

“Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act” – By Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)

The “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act” would amend Title X of the Public Health Service Act to prohibit family planning grants from being awarded to any entity that commits abortions, and for other purposes.

“Abortion Is Not Healthcare Act” – By Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)

“The Abortion Is Not Healthcare Act” excludes amounts paid for an abortion from the itemized tax deduction for qualified medical and dental expenses. Under current law, individuals who itemize their tax deductions may deduct qualified medical and dental expenses to the extent that such expenses exceed 7.5% of the individual’s adjusted gross income for the tax year. Further, under current law, the calculation of the itemized tax deduction for medical and dental expenses may include amounts paid for a legal abortion. Under the bill, amounts paid for an abortion may not be claimed as part of the itemized deduction for medical and dental expenses.

“Bereaved Parents’ Rights Act” (House & Senate) – By Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) & Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS)

The “Bereaved Parents’ Rights Act” is an SFLAction bill sponsored by Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) and Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) in their respective chambers. This bill would notify the parent(s) of a miscarried or stillborn baby of their rights to a private or common burial, cremation, or disposal of remains by the hospital or birthing center within six (6) hours of the passing of their child or discharge.

Dobbs Anniversary Resolution – By Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT)

A resolution celebrating the historic anniversary of the June 24, 2022, decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

“More Paid Leave for More Americans Act” – By Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-OK)

As part of the Blueprint for Life Coalition, the “More Paid Leave for More Americans Act” is a key bill to empower families and build a culture of life in America. This legislation directs the Secretary of Labor to create a grant program to award grants to States to carry out a paid family leave program, to establish the Interstate Paid Leave Action Network, and for other purposes.
