In Case You Missed It: Students for Life of America Volunteers and Staff Rally Outside Walgreens HQ in Chicago

Earlier this week, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) gathered in Deerfield, Illinois alongside volunteers and staff from Illinois Pro-Life Action League to protest the pharmacy giant Walgreens’ recent and reckless decision to allow Chemical Abortion Pills on their shelves, and thus into neighborhood across America.

In case you missed it, here’s what the media had the say about event:

FOX 32 Chicago: Chicago protesters rally as Supreme Court weighs fate of abortion pill mifepristone

“As the court heard arguments, protesters gathered outside in DC. Groups from both sides say they want their voices heard.

Supporters of the drug who showed up outside the Supreme Court say the drug is safe, while anti-abortion advocates argue the drug could be harmful to women.

There were also dueling rallies across the Chicago area.

One group called Students for Life of America and the Pro-Life Action League held its protest at the Walgreens headquarters in Chicago. CVS and Walgreens are the two largest pharmacy chains in the US that will be selling mifepristone.”

“In Deerfield Tuesday, outside the Walgreens headquarters, opponents of abortion rights rallied, and called on the pharmaceutical giant to stop selling mifepristone.

They also had a message for the Supreme Court.

All of that, the pro-life petitioners, the doctors and nurses and other medical professionals who brought this case to the Supreme Court today were asking is that we go back to the restrictions that the FDA placed on abortion drugs when it first approved them in the year 2000,” said Mary FioRito, former vice chancellor of the Archdiocese of Chicago.”

WGNTV 9: Rallies held in Chicago, suburbs as Supreme Court hears mifepristone abortion pill arguments

States that restrict abortion access, like Indiana, and those that protect it, like Illinois, would all be impacted by a decision that rolls back the FDA’s decisions, making it a closely watched case in a Supreme Court that features a conservative majority who already struck down Roe v. Wade when they took up arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization during June 2022.

The Pro-Life rally was held outside of Walgreens’ headquarters in Deerfield and was staged by Students for Life, who claim that mifepristone is not safe to use and said they’ve gathered more than 29,000 signatures on a petition that demands the drug’s removal from store shelves.

Walgreens is one of several national pharmacies where mifepristone can be obtained.”

Additionally, TV and radio packages aired on WMAQ-TV and WOAI-AM across the Chicago area.
