In what some might call a “premature” and “boneheaded” law, Mississippi Democrat State Sen. Bradford Blackmon faced stiff resistance to his Contraception Begins at Erection Act, failing to even finish through the committee phase.
According to The New Zealand Herald, “Anyone caught making an illegal emission faced a fine of US$1000 ($1775) for a first offence, US$5000 ($8875) for a second offence and US$10,000 ($17,750) for any subsequent offences.”
Other pro-abortion Democrats joined Blackmon in his quest to rebel against pro-life laws, with two hardened Ohio Democratic Reps. Anita Somani and Tristan Rader from conceiving a similar erection act.
“Why regulate abortion access when you go straight to the source of the issue?” Somani wrote on the app, Blue Sky, meant to rival Elon Musk’s X. “Introducing our new bill to hold men accountable for their role in unwanted pregnancies.”
However, this is going to have a hard time gaining passage, as the basis of the law is blatantly ridiculous. Pro-life laws exist to protect children, a separate human person apart from their mother and father, and vulnerable women, not controlling men or women’s sex lives.
Even though Blackmon’s aim to be clever against pro-lifers missed the mark, he shouldn’t be so hard on himself. Students for Life Action (SFLAction) will stay busy protecting Life through legislation until America abolishes abortion for good.
While we don’t think Democrats will abolish erections or make the point they think they are, it sure is a good waste of time, so we approve. Kinda.
