WASHINGTON D.C. (8-15-2024) – Fox News released a powerful and personal op-ed from Students for Life Action (SFLA) Government Affairs Coordinator Savanna Deretich about her experience during Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s 2020 reign of terror. She describes in painful detail how fire, rioters, and looters destroyed all the neighborhood hangout spots, ruled the streets, and dodging bullets became commonplace, as well as the tragic loss of friendships over ideological differences and 1984-style snitch lines for COVID rebels.
“What once used to be one of the safest and most beautiful cities in the U.S. saw entire city blocks turned into a fiery ash heap, forcing my friends to flee for their lives due to shootings, riots, violence, left-wing activists blocking major highways, and mobs right on their doorsteps,” Deretich describes in her op-ed. “Gunshots flew through the windows of homes, killing innocent bystanders, sending gas stations and grocery stores into flames, and allowing rioters and looters to loot at their leisure. My once artistic and financially booming city became unrecognizable.”
Deretich details how, after returning to college in Minnesota, she was forced to snitch on students who didn’t follow Walz’s COVID rules or face being expelled, called names, such as “bigot,” by her friends before they fell out, and left no choice but to halt pro-life events due to harsh restrictions and threats.
“Gov. Walz created a system where neighbors had to turn against each other out of fear of fines, getting charged by the state, serving jail time, and being further ostracized by fellow Minnesotans. He even created a hotline for people specifically to report people who were ‘breaking COVID regulations.’” Deretich said, “Gov. Walz brags about how abortion is a private matter, yet invaded to the greatest lengths, the privacy of all Minnesotans with his unconstitutional COVID mandates.”
“Every day, SFLA advocates for the right of free speech for all of our students on campus,” said Hawkins. “The fact that this happened to Deretich is heartbreaking and unfathomable that this even happened in the United States of America. We don’t want this ever to happen again. If Walz is elected backing up abortion radical Kamala Harris, that chance goes up exponentially on a nationwide scale – not just in one state.”
